SETTLE IT!
A New Season of Truth, Surrender, and Standing on the Word
There are seasons when God begins to shift something in you before you can fully explain what is happening.
You know something is different.
The distractions that once held your attention don’t carry the same weight. The desire to please people begins to lose its grip. You become less interested in creating an image and more interested in hearing God clearly, obeying Him completely, and walking out what He has said.
That is where I find myself in this new season.
I don’t have every detail mapped out. I don’t know everything that is coming next. But I know this:
There are some things that must be settled.
Not eventually.
Now.
Settle Who God Is
During a recent livestream titled “Settle It!”, the Lord brought me back to a foundational truth:
I have to settle in my heart who God is.
Not who circumstances say He is.
Not who people say He is.
Not who the world says He is.
But who He has revealed Himself to be through His Word.
If He is Jehovah Jireh, then I have to settle that He is my Provider.
If He is my Deliverer, I have to settle that He is able to deliver.
If He is my Shepherd, I have to settle that He knows how to lead me.
The enemy doesn’t necessarily have to convince you that God doesn’t exist. Sometimes all he needs is enough room to make you question what God has already said.
That is why settling matters.
When something is settled, it is no longer up for negotiation.
Settle the Word
The Word of God has to become more than something we occasionally read.
It has to become the foundation by which we live.
The more familiar we become with God’s Word, the more clearly we can recognize what agrees with Him—and what doesn’t.
His Word brings life.
His Word brings transformation.
His Word brings freedom from deception.
And when the enemy comes with a question, I don’t need to manufacture an answer.
I need to know what God said.
That is why reading, studying, meditating upon, and obeying Scripture matters.
Settle Your Authority
Another strong thread throughout the livestream was the authority Jesus has given His people.
We are not called to live perpetually intimidated by the works of the enemy.
Jesus has already declared that the ruler of this world has been judged.
The question is whether we will believe what He has said and walk accordingly.
There is a difference between knowing you have authority and actually exercising it.
I don’t want to live from a place of defeat when Christ has called me to walk in victory.
I don’t want to continually negotiate with what Jesus has already given me authority to confront.
Some things need to be settled.
Kingdom Living Is a Decision
The conversation eventually moved into something deeper:
What does it actually mean to live as a follower of Christ?
It is easy to say, “Lord, Lord.”
But Jesus made it clear that there is a difference between saying His name and doing the will of the Father.
Kingdom living requires surrender.
It requires obedience.
It requires loving God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength.
It requires allowing the Holy Spirit to lead us rather than allowing the world to disciple us through its distractions, entertainment, desires, and values.
I am learning that following Jesus isn’t about adding Him to the life I already wanted.
It is about surrendering my life to Him.
Settle It in Your Heart
There was also a personal reminder throughout this livestream about prayer and surrender.
I don’t want to be led by circumstances.
I don’t want to be led by fear.
I don’t want to be led by distraction.
I want to be led by the Holy Spirit.
And sometimes being led by God means being willing to stop, listen, and obey—even when I don’t understand the entire picture.
That is faith.
Not having every detail.
But trusting the One who does.
Believe. Settle. Obey. Stand.
One of the Scriptures referenced during the livestream was 2 Chronicles 20:20:
“Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.”
There is something powerful about being established.
Established means I am not constantly being moved by every voice, circumstance, opinion, or attack.
I know where I stand.
I know whom I believe.
I know what He has said.
And I am learning to stand there.
Job 22:28 also came into the conversation:
“Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee…”
There is a responsibility in knowing the Word of God.
We don’t simply hear it.
We believe it.
We speak it.
We obey it.
And we allow it to establish us.
A Clean Break
The livestream eventually brought us to Acts 19:17–20, where people made a decisive break from practices that were contrary to their new life in Christ.
That passage stood out to me.
Because sometimes settling isn’t merely deciding what you believe.
Sometimes settling means deciding what you will no longer participate in.
A clean break.
A turning.
A surrender.
A decision that says:
I have settled who Jesus is to me.
I have settled what His Word says.
I have settled whom I will follow.
I have settled what I will obey.
And now I must walk it out.
This Is the Beginning
Perhaps that is why this message feels bigger than one livestream.
It feels like a marker.
A beginning.
A line drawn in the sand.
A reminder that in this new season, I cannot afford to be double-minded about the things God has already made clear.
I don’t know everything this season will require.
But I know where I am beginning:
Settle it.
Settle who God is.
Settle what He has said.
Settle where you stand.
Settle what you believe.
Settle what you will obey.
And then—
stand.

I am not simply documenting what God is saying.
I am learning to live it.
