THE WORD WILL PREVAIL
When Jesus Is Lifted Up, Darkness Has to Give Way
“So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed.”
— Acts 19:20 KJV
There is a battle for souls.
There is darkness in this world. There is deception. There is opposition. And there are moments when obedience to God will meet resistance.
But the answer is not fear.
The answer is not becoming consumed with the enemy.
The answer is not making darkness bigger than Jesus.
THE WORD WILL PREVAIL.
The Gospel is still the power of God unto salvation.
Jesus is still drawing people to Himself.
The Word of God is still alive.
And when the people of God surrender, pray, intercede, preach Christ, and walk in obedience, darkness does not get the final word.
KEEP SHOWING UP
There are times when opposition seems to intensify precisely when you have determined to obey God.
During this livestream, I talked openly about experiencing what I perceived as spiritual opposition—things that seemed designed to distract, discourage, or prevent me from showing up.
But I had already made a decision.
I am going to show up.
Not because everything feels easy.
Not because there will never be resistance.
But because the assignment belongs to God.
There comes a point when you have to stop allowing opposition to determine whether you will obey.
If God told you to go—
go.
If God told you to speak—
speak.
If God told you to pray—
pray.
If God told you to build—
build.
The assignment does not suddenly become invalid because resistance appeared.
WALK WORTHY
Paul writes:
“I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called.”
— Ephesians 4:1 KJV
Calling requires character.
It is easy to become fascinated with gifts, assignments, revelation, prophecy, influence, platforms, and spiritual authority.
But Scripture tells us to walk worthy.
Our lives should increasingly reflect the One who called us.
Integrity matters.
Humility matters.
Obedience matters.
How we treat people matters.
What we do when nobody is watching matters.
We cannot continually look backward while claiming that we are moving forward with God.
Jesus said:
“No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”
— Luke 9:62 KJV
There are seasons when God says:
Stop looking back.
There is work ahead of you.
THE ENEMY IS ALREADY JUDGED
Jesus said concerning the Holy Spirit’s work:
“Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.”
— John 16:11 KJV
That changes our posture.
We do not approach spiritual warfare as though Jesus and Satan are two equal powers battling to see who will eventually win.
They are not equals.
Jesus Christ is Lord.
Our confidence is not in our ability to overpower darkness.
Our confidence is in Christ.
So we do not have to become fascinated with demons.
We do not have to become consumed with witchcraft.
We do not have to build an entire theology around what darkness is doing.
We need to know what God is doing.
Keep your eyes on Jesus.
HIS WAYS ARE HIGHER
Sometimes God will lead us in ways that make absolutely no sense to our natural minds.
Scripture says:
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.”
— Isaiah 55:8 KJV
And then:
“For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
— Isaiah 55:9 KJV
This is why obedience requires trust.
We want the complete explanation.
God may give one instruction.
We want the entire map.
God may give one coordinate.
We want to understand how everything connects.
God may simply say:
Go.
And sometimes the revelation comes after the obedience.
AS HE IS, SO ARE WE
First John gives believers an extraordinary statement:
“…because as he is, so are we in this world.”
— 1 John 4:17 KJV
We are Christ’s representatives in the earth.
That should produce boldness—but never arrogance.
We are not representing ourselves.
We represent Him.
Our assignment is not to make ourselves famous.
Our assignment is to make Jesus known.
Our authority is not independent of Him.
Our authority flows from our relationship with Him.
Our message is not:
Look at us.
It is:
LOOK AT JESUS.
THE TESTIMONY OF JESUS
Revelation 19:10 tells us:
“…for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”
That keeps prophecy centered where it belongs.
Jesus.
Prophecy should not make us obsessed with the prophet.
Revelation should not make us obsessed with revelation.
Signs should not make us obsessed with signs.
The testimony points to Jesus Christ.
If God reveals something, Jesus should receive glory.
If God confirms something, Jesus should receive glory.
If God performs something extraordinary, Jesus should receive glory.
If someone is delivered, Jesus should receive glory.
If someone is healed, Jesus should receive glory.
If someone’s life is transformed—
JESUS GETS THE GLORY.
LIFT JESUS HIGHER
Jesus said:
“And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.”
— John 12:32 KJV
This verse speaks in its immediate context of Jesus’ coming death—His being “lifted up” on the cross.
And what a powerful reminder it gives us:
Lift up Jesus.
We do not have to manufacture salvation.
We do not have to manipulate people into the Kingdom.
We proclaim Christ.
We preach the Gospel.
We testify about Jesus.
We tell people what He has done.
We lift Him up.
And God does what only God can do in the human heart.
PREACH THE GOSPEL
There is a difference between talking about spiritual things and preaching the Gospel.
We can quote Scriptures.
We can discuss blessings.
We can talk about purpose.
We can talk about prophecy.
We can talk about success.
We can talk about spiritual warfare.
And still never clearly tell someone the good news of Jesus Christ.
Paul wrote:
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation…”
— Romans 1:16 KJV
THE GOSPEL IS THE POWER OF GOD UNTO SALVATION.
Jesus Christ must remain at the center.
His death.
His burial.
His resurrection.
Repentance.
Faith.
Reconciliation with God.
New life in Christ.
That is good news.
And if we are praying for billions of souls, then we cannot merely give people inspirational Christianity.
People need Jesus.
DECIDE AND DECREE
During this teaching, we came to Job 22:28:
“Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways.”
— Job 22:28 KJV
This became the phrase:
DECIDE AND DECREE.
But our confidence is never in positive thinking or in treating our words as though they possess independent power.
Our confidence is in God and His Word.
We come into agreement with Him.
We pray according to His will.
We declare His truth.
We refuse to allow circumstances to become more authoritative in our minds than what God has spoken.
There comes a time when you must decide what you believe.
Then speak from that place of faith.
I believe God.
I believe His Word.
I choose obedience.
I choose truth.
I choose the Kingdom.
And then—
walk it out.
THE WORD IS ALIVE
Hebrews says:
“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword…”
— Hebrews 4:12 KJV
The Word does more than encourage us.
It exposes us.
It reaches beneath appearances.
Beneath religious performance.
Beneath excuses.
Beneath the image we present to other people.
The Word discerns the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
Sometimes we want to use the sword only against the enemy.
But sometimes the sword needs to work in us.
Cut away pride.
Cut away deception.
Cut away unbelief.
Cut away compromise.
Cut away motives that do not resemble Christ.
That is part of transformation.
Before we use the Word to confront everything around us, we must allow the Word to confront everything within us.
WHEN THE WORD PREVAILS
Acts 19 gives us a remarkable picture of transformation.
The name of Jesus was being magnified.
People were confronted with truth.
Those who had practiced occult arts began openly abandoning those practices and destroying what had previously connected them to that life.
Then Scripture summarizes what happened:
“So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed.”
— Acts 19:20 KJV
I love that.
THE WORD PREVAILED.
Not human charisma.
Not personality.
Not entertainment.
Not manipulation.
The Word.
And when the Word prevailed, people changed.
They walked away from darkness.
They renounced what once held them.
Their allegiance shifted.
Their lives demonstrated repentance.
That is what we are praying for.
COME OUT OF DARKNESS
This is the heart behind the intercession.
We are praying for people all over the world.
For nations.
For families.
For communities.
For those trapped in deception.
For those bound by addictions.
For those involved in occult practices.
For those who have never heard the true Gospel.
For those who have heard about Jesus but have never surrendered their lives to Him.
For those who have walked away.
For those who are spiritually asleep.
Our prayer is:
Father, bring them out.
Out of darkness.
Out of bondage.
Out of deception.
Out of captivity.
And into the marvelous light of Jesus Christ.
TAKING TERRITORY
When I talk about “taking territory,” ultimately I am talking about people.
Souls.
Lives.
Families.
Generations.
People coming out of darkness and into the Kingdom of God.
This is why Billions for Christ is not simply a slogan.
It is an intercessory cry.
There are billions of people on this planet, and every number represents a person known by God.
A mother.
A father.
A son.
A daughter.
A neighbor.
A stranger.
A nation.
A generation.
We are praying for the Gospel to reach them.
We are praying for Jesus to be lifted up.
We are praying for the Word to prevail.
DON’T GET DISTRACTED BY THE BATTLE
Yes, spiritual opposition exists.
Yes, Scripture tells us that our warfare is spiritual.
Yes, we pray against darkness.
But darkness is not the focus of the Gospel.
JESUS IS.
That distinction matters.
We do not measure the greatness of our assignment by how much opposition we believe we encounter.
We measure our faithfulness by whether we are doing what God told us to do.
So if opposition comes:
Pray.
Discern.
Stand.
Obey.
And then keep moving.
Because we have something much more important to talk about than what the enemy is doing.
WE HAVE A GOSPEL TO PREACH.
THE WORD WILL PREVAIL
This is where everything comes together.
Walk worthy.
Stop looking backward.
Trust God’s higher ways.
Know who you are in Christ.
Keep Jesus at the center of prophecy.
Lift Him up.
Preach the Gospel.
Agree with God’s Word.
Allow that Word to transform you first.
Intercede for souls.
And keep showing up.
Because darkness does not get the final word.
Fear does not get the final word.
Opposition does not get the final word.
The culture does not get the final word.
The enemy does not get the final word.
GOD DOES.
And we already have our receipt:
“So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed.”
— Acts 19:20 KJV
May it prevail in our hearts.
May it prevail in our homes.
May it prevail in our families.
May it prevail in our communities.
May it prevail throughout the nations.
May Jesus Christ be lifted high.
And may billions of souls come out of darkness and into His marvelous light.
THE WORD WILL PREVAIL.
