YOU HAVE THE KEYS
Know Your Identity. Stand in His Counsel. Use Your Authority. - June 29, 2026
You cannot effectively walk in Kingdom authority while continually forgetting who you are.
During this prophetic intercession and prayer session, the Lord kept bringing us back to identity.
Who are you?
Whose are you?
Where does your help come from?
Whose counsel are you following?
What has God entrusted to you?
And what have you allowed to distract you from it?
Jesus spoke about the keys of the Kingdom.
But keys are not decorations.
Keys represent access.
Authority.
Responsibility.
Stewardship.
If God has entrusted something to us, then we must learn how to steward it according to His will.
You Have the Keys
Matthew 16:19 records Jesus speaking about the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven and the authority to bind and loose.
That is serious Kingdom language.
But authority in Christ should never produce spiritual arrogance.
Kingdom authority remains submitted to the King.
We do not decide independently what Heaven should approve.
We seek God.
We know His Word.
We listen to the Holy Spirit.
We bring our lives into agreement with Christ.
And from that place of surrender, we pray and act according to His will.
The keys belong to the Kingdom.
And the Kingdom belongs to the King.
You Are a Royal Priesthood
First Peter 2:9 declares something extraordinary about God’s people:
We are a chosen generation.
A royal priesthood.
A holy nation.
A people belonging to God.
And why?
So that we might proclaim His excellencies—the wonderful deeds and virtues of the One who called us out of darkness into His marvelous light.
Notice where identity leads.
Mission.
God does not reveal who we are merely so that we can feel important.
Identity gives us clarity about what we are here to do.
We belong to God.
Therefore, our lives should proclaim Him.
Stop Looking for Human Permission
When you understand your identity in Christ, you stop needing people to constantly validate what God has already said.
This does not mean we reject godly counsel, accountability, leadership, or wisdom.
It means human approval cannot become our source.
Psalm 121 asks:
“From where does my help come?”
Then comes the answer:
My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.
People are not your source.
Platforms are not your source.
Titles are not your source.
Money is not your source.
God is.
Tear Down the Golden Calves
During the livestream, we talked about golden calves.
A golden calf is anything we begin depending upon in the place that belongs to God.
Sometimes it is money.
Sometimes it is status.
Sometimes it is a relationship.
Sometimes it is a leader.
Sometimes it is our own abilities.
Sometimes it is a platform.
Sometimes it is approval.
Sometimes it is simply the plan we created for ourselves.
Matthew 6:24 warns that we cannot serve both God and mammon.
Eventually, every heart must answer:
Who is Lord here?
Jesus cannot merely be added to a throne already occupied by something else.
Distraction Has a Purpose
Not every distraction looks sinful.
That is why distraction can be so effective.
Sometimes a distraction is simply something that continually pulls your attention away from what God told you to do.
A conversation.
An offense.
Comparison.
An opportunity that looks good but is not yours.
Fear.
Guilt.
Shame.
People’s opinions.
Even constant preoccupation with spiritual opposition can become a distraction if it causes us to take our eyes off Jesus.
The question is:
Where is your attention?
Because attention is valuable.
And whatever continually receives your attention will eventually influence your direction.
Stand in His Counsel
Jeremiah 23:22 gives us one of the most important principles from this session.
God speaks about those who would have stood in His counsel and caused His people to hear His words.
That phrase is powerful:
Stand in His counsel.
Before speaking for God—
stand before God.
Before running—
listen.
Before deciding—
seek Him.
Before announcing what God supposedly said—
make sure we have actually spent time with Him.
We do not need to invent our own paths and then ask God to bless them.
We need His counsel.
Truth Makes People Free
Truth is not our enemy.
Jesus said the truth makes us free.
Sometimes truth comforts.
Sometimes truth corrects.
Sometimes truth exposes something we have been avoiding.
But if truth leads us toward freedom, we should not fear it.
We are ministers of reconciliation.
That means we carry the truth of the Gospel because people need to know that reconciliation with God is available through Jesus Christ.
Not through performance.
Not through religious appearance.
Not through human achievement.
Through Jesus.
Crucified With Christ
Galatians 2:20 brings us back to surrender:
“I am crucified with Christ…”
That is not merely beautiful language.
The Christian life is an exchanged life.
My will for His.
My agenda for His.
My identity apart from Him exchanged for identity in Him.
My strength exchanged for dependence upon His grace.
Paul continues by describing a life lived by faith in the Son of God.
That is where authority remains safe:
at the cross.
Power without surrender becomes dangerous.
Authority without humility becomes distorted.
But authority flowing from a crucified life points people back to Jesus.
God Cannot Be Restrained
Job 42:2 declares:
“I know that thou canst do every thing, and that no thought can be withholden from thee.”
God’s purposes cannot ultimately be restrained.
That means we do not have to manipulate outcomes.
We do not have to force doors.
We do not have to panic when circumstances look contrary.
We seek Him.
We obey Him.
We trust Him.
God is perfectly capable of accomplishing what He purposes.
Take Responsibility for Your Walk
Another important theme during this session was accountability.
There comes a point when we must stop blaming everyone else for where we are spiritually.
Yes, leaders matter.
Teaching matters.
Community matters.
Church matters.
But you also have access to God.
You can pray.
You can read Scripture.
You can seek Him.
You can repent.
You can obey.
You can ask the Holy Spirit to reveal truth.
You can take responsibility for cultivating your relationship with Jesus.
Guilt says:
“Hide.”
Shame says:
“You can never come back.”
Jesus says:
“Come.”
So come.
Pray for the Nations
Our authority is not given merely for our personal comfort.
We have an assignment.
There are nations to pray for.
People who need the Gospel.
Families needing reconciliation.
Communities needing hope.
People bound by darkness who need to encounter the light of Jesus Christ.
So we pray.
We intercede.
We share the Gospel.
We proclaim His excellencies.
And we continue believing God for:
Billions for Christ.
You Have the Keys
Maybe you have spent too much time asking:
“Am I enough?”
That is not the right question.
The better question is:
“Is Jesus enough?”
Yes.
Maybe you have been waiting for someone to tell you that you can pray.
Pray.
Waiting for permission to tell somebody about Jesus.
Tell them.
Waiting until you feel important enough to serve.
Serve.
Waiting until fear disappears before you obey.
Obey while trusting God with the fear.
You are not operating in your own name.
You belong to Jesus Christ.
You are part of a chosen people.
A royal priesthood.
A holy nation.
Called out of darkness into His marvelous light.
So tear down the idols.
Reject distraction.
Stand in His counsel.
Walk in truth.
Stay crucified with Christ.
Take responsibility for your walk.
Pray for the nations.
Carry the Gospel.
And remember:
YOU HAVE THE KEYS.
Know your identity.
Stand in His counsel.
Use your authority.
Give Jesus all the glory.
