About Us

Hi! I’m Harper Steenstra, the founder of Code For ME. I’m a high school student with a passion for making computer science more accessible, especially for students and teachers who are just getting started.

Code For ME was created with a simple goal: to make learning coding feel less intimidating and more approachable. Too often, computer science is introduced in a way that assumes prior experience or technical knowledge. I wanted to change that by building resources that are clear, supportive, and designed for beginners—especially in school environments where coding might be new for both students and teachers.

Our mission is to empower teachers who may not have a background in coding to confidently bring computer science into their classrooms. We believe that you don’t need to be an expert to teach these skills—you just need the right tools. That’s exactly what we’re working to provide.

Right now, we’re focused on creating beginner-friendly textbooks, lesson materials, and camp experiences that help students take their first steps into programming while giving teachers the guidance they need to lead the way. Our current 5-day Introduction to Python textbook is just the beginning. It’s designed to walk both students and teachers through foundational concepts in a way that feels manageable and engaging.

Everything we create is built with the same idea in mind: keep it simple, keep it practical, and make it something you can actually use.

As we grow, Code For ME will continue to expand with new resources, updated materials, and more opportunities for students to explore computer science in a supportive environment. Whether you’re a teacher looking to bring coding into your classroom or a student curious about how it all works, you’re in the right place.

Thanks for being here and supporting our mission. We’re excited to build something meaningful together.
