Since I plan on making videos of my chapters, and I don't want to spend over $1,000 a year to do it, I'm building my own PC designed for running open-source AI models for creating images and videos. Buying computer parts isn't cheap either, but it's done once (until I upgrade), I own the pc, and all the images and videos I create are free!
Because of this, I need to save money. So I'm moving my website here. I still plan on having my chapters that are free to read here, my backlist uploaded, and the videos I'll make when I get there.
I have half the parts ordered, but Amazon has three of them at outrageous prices, so I'm waiting a few days after Amazon's Prime Day deals end and see if they come down. AI told me (I know, I know) that this can happen if a product sells out, but once they're restocked, the price should come down.
I think I'll post about my PC build and how the whole thing goes. Hopefully, I'm not messing things up and wasting my money because I've never built my own rig.
An Important Tip From Me
While AI is very helpful, it's not perfect. I've been using it to help build a pc for creating videos. Here's what I've learned:
- Double-check its work; it can make mistakes
- Give it reminders of what you're doing because it can forget
- Ask AI questions, even stupid ones, because it can lead you astray
All in all, I still give it a 9/10 rating for its help!
