Finding My Creative Rhythm Again

I’m taking a deep breath because this week, I made some real, intentional headway into this next season of craft design and hobby satisfaction. I’m still wrestling with those old self-doubt scripts running wild in the back of my mind—but for once, my determination to lead myself forward and recreate in my current environment felt stronger than the noise.

I think it has a lot to do with the affirmation taped to my craft room door. It reminds me why I do this and what I’m capable of, even when my confidence wavers.

After sharing the chaos of my welcome back to the studio, this week brought a gentle shift—toward structure, flow, and consistency. The break was long, the return was real—and now I’m learning how to create in this space, as it is.

One thing became obvious early on: I was losing too much time hunting for the same core supplies—scissors, glue gun, glue sticks, tape, paper clips. You know, the basics that any paper-based artist touches constantly. So, I took action and created a go-to craft supply box with just the essentials I reach for the most. It’s already helping me focus more and fumble less.

With that bit of structure in place, inspiration arrived. I dove into a new idea: abstract acrylic pressed art transformed into vibrant, playful greeting cards. (I'll be including a short video and some photos to show the process in motion.)

I also started jotting notes in a small notebook—nothing fancy, just a spot for measurements, layering steps, and reusable ideas that I can refer back to. It’s a quiet system, but it’s helping me stay present in the process and not rely on memory alone to recreate what worked.

That said, this moment of focus wasn’t without its struggles. My inner critic still showed up, loud and nagging. But I gently acknowledged it—or sometimes, flat out ignored it—and kept going. Eventually, I finished a card. Took some photos. Listed it in the shop.

Since writing this, I have added a few more and you can view them now. Also, check out the demo video.

But that’s what this season is about: one step at a time.

Another sweet moment from the week: I pulled out a few older pieces from my inventory to send as gifts for Mother's Day. It reminded me that my crafts aren’t just products—they’re little vessels of care, connection, and joy. They serve me when I need them to—and they give again when passed on to others.

This post is just a snapshot of a new rhythm taking shape—one that’s simple, honest, and starting to feel creatively whole again.
