I have to admit, I'm a very indecisive person, but this morning a quote I found on Instagram hit me like a speeding train.
Here's the quote:
"Decrease the time between having an idea and executing, and everything changes. Money loves speed, poverty loved indecision."
I saw this quote on Rich Somers' Instagram page.
This is important because these days, most people get stuck on building someone else's platform and neglect their own. Here's what I'm talking about here:
Social media.
I'm a big believer in building your audience using platforms such as Medium and YouTube however, don't put all your eggs in these rented baskets. Build your own platform.
By this, I mean spend more time building your blog, your membership, or whatever else you're building. Don't waste too much time filling up someone else's cup.
I had an epiphany this morning after having my Medium account suspended for the fourth time in one year.
Every time my account gets suspended, it gets restored. They always say that it was a mistake and hand my account back to me again.
So, here's the thing:
I don't break the rules on Medium. I'm very careful, but this keeps happening.
So, I've made a very strong decision, and that's to focus fully on building Creator Vibes Club blog, and exclusive content that's behind the paywall.
I will post on Medium once in a while if my account gets restored, but I won't feed the beast anymore. What does it mean to feed the beast?
Feeding the beast is posting every day of the week on Medium.
I'll only post daily on Creator Vibes Club paid membership section.
i won't post daily anywhere else, not even on YouTube.
I've had to make this decision because I want to fully focus on building my businesses outside of social media.
By all means, use social media as a vehicle, but don't use it as the main driving force for your business. I suggest that you spend more time posting on your own blog, and spend less time posting on social media.
It's an unpopular opinion, I know, but after working online for more than a decade, I can tell you that social media platforms should never be the main focus of your business.
What do I suggest instead of putting all your eggs into social media?
I suggest that you use social media as a vehicle to build your brand
But don't use it as the be-all, and end-all of your business.
I used to believe in posting endlessly on social media
I don't anymore.
- Post high-value content on social, post less.
- Three times a week
- Connect with people outside of social.
- Build a newsletter
- Hold online events
- Make real world connections
Social media can disappear at any time. They can also delete your account whenever they feel like doing so, therefore, it's best to build your own platform outside of social media. Remember this:
Medium is a social media platform.
It's disguised as an online publishing platform, but it's a social media platform.
They control everything.
You have no say.
Therefore, I don't recommend posting daily on Medium anymore. I recommend a maximum of three times a week.

I'll only post once a week on Medium from now on, that's if my main account gets restored. If not, I'll pull all my content from Medium and only post on my own platforms.
Luckily, we have several newsletters, and we're building more, so the goal is to build a community that doesn't rely on social media, views, likes, and social media algorithms.
I know, it's hard, very hard.
How do you get your name out there without using all these platforms?
I'm not saying avoid them completely, but don't put every ounce of your energy into building these platforms.
That's all I'm saying.
I have more than 4000 articles on Medium, and the best thing I can do right now, is leave the articles there, repurpose them for my blogs, and reap the benefits of sales that might come through those articles.
I have two main pages on Medium, one is suspended as I write this, and the other one isn't; but funnily enough, the one that's active has more articles, and more followers, but I earn less from the Partner Program on that account. The one that's suspended has less followers, less articles, and I earn double over there. I also post less over there, so it goes to show that posting daily on Medium doesn't work anymore.
Two to three times a week is a sweet spot for Medium and any other platform in my opinion. I'm doing a challenge on TikTok at the moment, and honestly, I don't want to fail the challenge, so I'll continue but I will most likely only post twice a week over there, from now on.
Here's my new posting schedule for social media and my own platforms:
- 1 long form video on YouTube per week
- 2 short form videos per week
- 1 Medium post (if I get my other account back)
- Two posts a week on this blog, and two posts on other blogs we own
- Daily posts on Creator Vibes Club paid blog
- 2 Reels on Instagram
- 3 newsletter posts a week
- 1 Vocal Media post a week
- 1 Hubpages post a week
I would rather feel overwhelmed posting on my own blog that on social media and other platforms. How many times do you post on social media in a week?
