Stop Scrolling for Fun and Start Scrolling for Funds

Yes, I said it!

People complain about how “difficult” it is to make money online, and I’m not going to sit here and lie to you, because yes, it’s tough. You do have to put in the effort, the time, and you must learn as you go along.

It’s not an easy ride, but ask yourself this question:

“Am I spending most of my time scrolling on social media and watching random rubbish on YouTube?”

Or, are you using your time wisely, and instead of scrolling for fun, you’re scrolling for funds?

What does it mean to scroll for funds?

Scrolling for funds is a term I coined recently, and it means that you spend time “productive scrolling” instead of scrolling for a quick dopamine hit.

So, I set 30 minutes aside before I start my first deep work session to scroll on the Internet. I pick a platform, and scroll with intention.

For example:

Today my platform of choice is YouTube. I’m searching for something specific such as “ChatGPT side hustles.” Or YouTube channels that focus on teaching people how to blog for profit.

I add these links to a master spreadsheet, and build curated lists for platforms such as Medium, YouTube, Vocal, and Hubpages. I also publish these lists on my niche blogs.

I don’t always post curated lists, sometimes I create a feature based on a video I’ve watched or article I’ve read.

For the article above, I found the content originally on Instagram, then I read an article about the same guy on CNBC Make It. This type of content is my holy grail, and each month, I make at least $5000 from content about business success stories.

These days I call myself a content synthesizer because I spend most of my time sourcing content ideas from different platforms such as Medium, YouTube, Pinterest, Flipboard, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and other platforms.

It’s the best job in the world, because we get to read, watch, and scroll for a living.

It’s bliss.

I monetize this content with digital products, affiliate links, and platform partner programs.

The truth is, it looks easy but you must have an eye for quality information and content. Also, you must understand the needs of your audience.

Big media houses such as BuzzFeed and Every Girl Media use content curation to drive traffic to their websites, and it’s highly effective.

Both BuzzFeed and The Every Girl spend an obscene amount of time sharing TikTok and Instagram-related content. What does that tell you?

If you’re not utilizing the power of curated content now, I’d strongly suggest that you do. I’ve put together a training to help you start productive scrolling for funds, instead of scrolling fo r fun.
