There’s a weight to our words that we often overlook. In moments of frustration, judgment, or skepticism, it’s easy to speak against people we don’t fully understand—especially spiritual leaders or prophetic voices. But have you ever considered that when you speak against a prophet, you might be speaking against God Himself?
Throughout Scripture, prophets weren’t just messengers—they were God’s mouthpieces. They carried His Word, His warnings, His promises, and His plans. To reject or mock them wasn’t a personal insult to the prophet—it was a spiritual offense toward the One who sent them.
Moses’ Story: More Than a Brother
Take the story of Moses in Numbers 12. Aaron and Miriam—his own siblings—spoke against him because of personal issues. But God didn’t take it lightly. He came down in a cloud and said:
“When a prophet of the Lord is among you, I reveal myself to him in visions, I speak to him in dreams. But this is not true of my servant Moses; he is faithful in all my house. With him I speak face to face…” (Numbers 12:6-8)
And then God asked a chilling question: “Why then were you not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?”
In other words, “Do you realize who you’re really challenging?”
You Don’t Have to Like the Prophet—But Be Careful
Let’s be clear: You don’t have to like the prophet. Their personality might not click with yours. Their delivery might rub you the wrong way. That’s human. But what’s spiritual is this: you should never speak against them or stir up chaos around them.
We must be careful not to let offense, jealousy, or misunderstanding lead us into dishonor. You may not be called to that prophet—and that’s okay. Not everyone is assigned to every leader. But no matter where you stand, one thing remains: honor the God who sent them.
Stay in Your Lane and Stay Prayerful
Whether you are a leader, a follower, or just beginning your journey in faith, it’s crucial to stay in your lane. Not in a limiting way—but in a focused way. We all have a unique assignment. Instead of criticizing someone else’s calling, we must stay prayerful, guard our hearts, and focus on our own purpose.
Everyone’s lane leads somewhere—but chaos, division, and dishonor will only lead us off track.
Final Thought: Honor What You Don’t Understand
God’s ways are not our ways. His choices often confuse the natural mind. But honoring a prophet isn’t about agreeing with everything they say—it’s about respecting the God who speaks through them. Don’t let your mouth fight a battle your spirit was never called to enter.
Let’s stay humble, stay prayerful, and stay in purpose.
