Sis, let’s talk. Sometimes, we give the enemy way too much credit. Every inconvenience, every setback, every challenge—we’re quick to say, “The devil is busy.” But what if I told you that not everything is the devil?
Sometimes, It’s Just Life
We live in a fallen world, and challenges are a part of it. John 16:33 says, “In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” Struggles will come, but that doesn’t always mean the enemy is attacking. Sometimes, it’s just life happening.
• Your car broke down? It might just be wear and tear.
• You got sick? It could be poor diet, stress, or lack of rest.
• You lost a job? Maybe God is redirecting you to something better.
Instead of blaming the devil, ask God what He’s trying to teach you in the situation.
Sometimes, It’s Our Own Choices
Let’s be real—some of the things we go through are because of our own decisions. The Bible warns us about reaping what we sow (Galatians 6:7).
• If we ignore wisdom, make poor financial choices, or get into relationships God never approved, we can’t always blame Satan when things go wrong.
• If we mistreat our bodies, neglect rest, or stay in toxic environments, we will feel the consequences.
Yes, the enemy wants to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), but we also have to take responsibility for our actions.
Sometimes, It’s God Refining You
Not every hardship is an attack—some are tests. God uses trials to grow us, stretch us, and refine our character. James 1:2-4 tells us to count it all joy when we face trials because they produce perseverance.
God prunes what’s not bearing fruit so that we can grow (John 15:2). That closed door? That difficult season? It might be God shaping you, not the devil stopping you.
So What Should We Do?
• Pray for discernment – Ask God, “Is this an attack, a lesson, or my own doing?”
• Take responsibility – If it’s your choices, make changes.
• Trust God’s process – If He’s refining you, embrace it with faith.
• Resist the enemy – When it is spiritual warfare, use the Word and prayer to fight back (Ephesians 6:10-18).
Sis, the devil is real, but so is our responsibility, life’s reality, and God’s sovereignty. Everything isn’t the enemy—sometimes, it’s just God working or life unfolding. Instead of focusing on Satan’s schemes, let’s focus on God’s purpose.
