Let me be keep it all the way one hunnid (100%) with you—obedience isn’t always easy. Sometimes God tells you to do something that makes no sense, stretches your faith, or goes completely against your comfort zone. But what I’ve learned is this: obedience is the key that unlocks God’s best for your life.
We often pray for blessings, breakthroughs, and favor, but ignore the instructions that would lead us there. The truth is, God doesn’t just bless what we say—we must do what He says. Obedience is a posture of trust. It’s saying, “Lord, I may not understand, but I trust You more than I trust myself.”
In this blog, I want to share what the Lord has taught me about the power of obedience—how it positions us, protects us, and prepares us for His promises.
1.
Obedience Is Better Than Sacrifice
“Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the Lord? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.” —1 Samuel 15:22
Sometimes we try to do everything except what God told us to do. We’ll pray more, serve more, even give more—all in hopes that it will somehow bypass the instruction we don’t want to obey.
But here’s the truth: God isn’t impressed with busy sacrifice—He’s moved by surrendered obedience.
I once delayed leaving a relationship God told me to walk away from. I thought I could just fast, pray, and stay. But nothing changed until I obeyed. Once I said “yes,” even in tears, the peace of God covered me. It was obedience—not effort—that opened the door to my healing.
2.
Delayed Obedience Is Still Disobedience
We think we have time. We think, “I’ll do it later.” But the reality is, later often becomes never. And while we wait, disobedience closes doors we didn’t even know were open.
God moves in timing. When He gives a word, there’s a window of favor that comes with it. Delaying can cost you the opportunity, the connection, or the moment.
You don’t have to have all the answers to move. Just obey. Trust that God knows what’s on the other side.
3.
Obedience Requires Faith
“By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place… not knowing where he was going.” —Hebrews 11:8
Sometimes obedience means stepping out without a full map.
Abraham didn’t know where he was going—but he trusted Who was leading him. God rarely gives us all the details, but He always gives us His presence. And His presence is enough.
It takes faith to obey when it doesn’t make sense. But that’s when heaven responds. Faith-filled obedience is what activates the supernatural.
4.
Obedience Is Proof of Our Love
“If you love me, keep my commandments.” —John 14:15
This scripture is simple, but it’s deep.
God doesn’t measure our love for Him by how loud we sing, how high we shout, or how much we serve. He measures our love by our obedience.
Every time we choose not to obey, we’re telling God with our actions, “I don’t trust You,” or worse, “I don’t love You enough to listen.”
That’s a hard truth—but a freeing one. Because once we realize this, we can repent and return to our first love. Love is not just a feeling. Love is a decision. Love is submission.
Obedience is how we love God back.
5.
Obedience Brings Blessing
“If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands… all these blessings will come on you and accompany you…” —Deuteronomy 28:1–2
Obedience isn’t about restriction—it’s about release. God’s blessings flow through obedience.
There are blessings attached to every yes. When you obey, you invite protection, provision, promotion, and peace.
Some of you are one step of obedience away from the life you’ve been praying for. Don’t let fear keep you from what obedience will unlock.
6.
My Personal Reflection
I’ve learned that obedience isn’t a one-time decision. It’s a lifestyle. Sometimes it’s a big step. Other times it’s a small shift—like waking up early to pray, letting go of a toxic friend, or starting the business God told you to launch.
One of the hardest seasons of obedience for me was leaving behind familiar people and places because God was calling me higher. I didn’t have all the support I wanted. I cried. I felt alone. But God sustained me—and now I look back and thank Him for the strength to obey.
Obedience doesn’t always feel good—but it will always work for your good.
Here a gem 💎 for you:
Obedience may cost you in the moment, but it will bless you in the long run. You may lose people. You may lose comfort. But what you gain is so much greater.
Ask yourself:
👉 What did God last tell me to do?
👉 Have I fully obeyed?
👉 Is my delay causing me to miss what He wants to give me?
Go back to the last instruction. Go back to the last “yes” you didn’t give. Repent. Release it. And then obey.
Prayer:
Father, give me the strength to obey You without hesitation. Help me to trust You, even when I don’t understand. Let my “yes” unlock the blessings You’ve stored up for me. Teach me to walk in obedience daily, and may I never miss a moment of Your will. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Let me challenge you into action:
If this blog spoke to you, I encourage you to share it with someone who’s been struggling to obey God. Your yes might inspire theirs.
Let’s walk in obedience—together.
