Have you ever noticed how some people are quiet when you’re struggling, but when you start to prosper, their true colors begin to show?
They smile in your face, but deep down, they’re waiting for your downfall. It’s a sad reality, but the Bible warns us about these kinds of people.
The Wickedness of Jealousy
Jealousy is a dangerous spirit, and it can turn even the closest friends or family members into silent enemies. Cain killed Abel because he was jealous of his favor with God (Genesis 4:3-8). Saul despised David because of his anointing (1 Samuel 18:6-9). Even Jesus was betrayed by Judas, someone who walked with Him daily (Luke 22:3-6).
The truth is, when God elevates you, not everyone will celebrate you. Some people thrive on negativity and secretly hope for your failure. But here’s the good news God’s favor cannot be stopped by man’s jealousy.
God’s Protection Over His People
Psalm 91:7 says, “A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.” This means no matter who plots against you, their schemes will fail because God is your protector.
Even when people try to set you up for failure, God has a way of using it for your good. Remember Joseph? His brothers sold him into slavery because they were jealous of his dreams, but God positioned him in Egypt to save a nation (Genesis 50:20).
The same people who wanted to see you fall will have to watch as God lifts you up!
Stay Focused on God, Not Your Haters
It’s easy to get caught up in who’s against you, but that’s a distraction from the enemy. Instead of worrying about who’s waiting for your downfall, focus on the One who is orchestrating your elevation.
• Pray for your enemies. Jesus said in Matthew 5:44, “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.”
• Stay humble. Don’t allow pride to rise up because of your success—give all glory to God (James 4:6).
• Keep moving forward. Don’t let bitterness or negativity slow you down. God is taking you higher!
God Will Expose and Handle Your Enemies
Proverbs 26:27 says, “Whoever digs a pit will fall into it; if someone rolls a stone, it will roll back on them.” The traps people set for you will eventually catch them. God is not blind to their intentions He sees everything and will deal with them in His timing.
Stay faithful, keep your heart pure, and trust that God is in control. No matter who’s waiting for your downfall, they will have to witness your victory.
Final Encouragement
If you’re feeling the weight of jealousy and opposition, remember: what God has for you, no one can take away. Keep shining, keep prospering, and most of all, keep trusting in the Lord. The enemy may be watching, but God is always in control!
