We all have someone who hurt us.
Maybe they betrayed your trust. Maybe they humiliated you, lied to you, broke you in ways you didn’t even know were possible. Maybe they walked away when you needed them most. And maybe, you promised yourself that if you ever saw them again, you’d never speak to them, let alone pray for them.
But what if one day, God asks you to?
What if, after all the pain, after all the nights you cried and all the times you questioned your worth, God brings their name to your heart and says, “Pray for them.”
Would you?
Well guess what—I did.
And you know what? I did it.
You know why? Because nobody in this world is worth holding a debt for. I want to go to heaven, and by any means, I will do what the Lord asks me to do. And you know another thing?
Praying for that person gave me a sense of compassion.
It also healed me.
Because now I understand spirits.
I understand that people are often being used—by darkness, by trauma, by the demonic. It’s not always personal. It’s spiritual.
This is one of the hardest truths to embrace in the walk of faith: sometimes, God doesn’t just want to heal you—He wants to heal them too. And sometimes, He uses you as the vessel. Not because they deserve it. Not because you’re over it. But because grace is bigger than pain, and obedience brings peace.
Forgiveness isn’t about pretending the hurt didn’t happen. It’s not about letting toxic people back into your space. It’s about freedom—yours.
So maybe one day, God will ask you to pray for the very person who hurt you the most. Maybe He already has.
And when He does, the question won’t be whether they deserve it.
The question will be: will you?
