Have you ever met a woman who claims to love God but constantly tears other women down? Maybe you’ve experienced it firsthand, or perhaps, if you’re honest, you’ve been that woman before. Sis, it’s time for a heart check.
Are You a Mean Girl in the Kingdom?
Being a woman of God means reflecting His love, not just in words but in action. Yet, some women—whether out of jealousy, insecurity, or past wounds—fall into the trap of tearing others down instead of lifting them up. Gossip, side-eye shade, and subtle competition have no place in the Kingdom. God calls us to a higher standard.
The Bible says in 1 Thessalonians 5:11:
“Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”
Nowhere does it say to compete, compare, or cut each other down. Instead, we are called to serve, uplift, and empower our sisters in Christ.
Jealousy & Envy: The Silent Killers of Sisterhood
Sis, let’s be real—jealousy and envy have ruined friendships, ministries, and even families. But jealousy isn’t just a personal issue; it’s a spiritual one.
James 3:16 warns us:
“For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice.”
When we operate in jealousy, we open the door for the enemy to plant seeds of division and strife. Instead of seeing another woman as competition, celebrate her! God’s blessings for her don’t take away from what He has for you.
A Dream That Changed My Perspective
I’m inspired to write this because I have a heart for women—that is what I’m called to do. Last night, the Lord gave me a dream that changed my perspective even more. In the dream, I saw women who had gone before me—women ahead of me in purpose, success, and ministry. But instead of feeling jealous or envious, I found myself cheering them on. I celebrated their wins and even took notes, willing to learn from them.
Sis, can you honestly do that? Can you celebrate the ones who are ahead of you, knowing that your time will come?
God has to trust you and test you to see where your heart truly is. Not because He doesn’t know—He already does—but so you can see where you stand. Sometimes, the test isn’t about the blessing itself; it’s about whether your heart is truly prepared to handle it.
The Power of Sisterhood in Christ
True sisterhood means seeing another woman’s success and saying, “Sis, I’m happy for you! How can I support you?” It means extending grace instead of judgment. It means choosing to encourage rather than compete.
If you’ve struggled with being a “mean girl,” it’s okay—God’s grace is available for you. Repent, ask God to heal those insecure places, and start making a change today.
And if you’ve been on the receiving end of mean girl behavior, don’t let it harden your heart. Keep your spirit pure, forgive, and remember that your worth is not defined by someone else’s opinion.
You Can Sit With Us, Sis
