God gave me a revelation while I was scrolling on TikTok.
I came across a situation where a woman was extremely talented, yet the industry didn’t want to work with her, not because of her gift, but because of her behavior and character.
That moment opened my eyes, not just in the natural world but in the spiritual world as well.
Even in Christianity, God cares about our character. He gives us gifts and talents, but if our attitude and behavior don’t align with His principles, doors will remain closed. Many people wonder why they aren’t invited to speak at churches or why others don’t want to come together in unity with them. Often, it has nothing to do with their anointing or calling, it’s their character and attitude that push people away.
Why Behavior Matters More Than Talent
1. Your Character Determines Your Opportunities
You can be the best at what you do, but if people find you hard to work with, unreliable, or prideful, they will pass on you. Talent may get you noticed, but it’s character that keeps you in the room.
2. Even Jesus Led With Love and Humility
When Jesus was on earth, He didn’t just operate in power—His character reflected love, humility, and grace. His attitude drew people to Him. He showed that true leadership and influence are rooted in how we treat others, not just in the gifts we possess.
3. People Gravitate Toward Those Who Reflect Christ
In ministry, business, and relationships, people want to be connected to those who uplift, encourage, and bring peace. If your character is filled with pride, jealousy, or negativity, even the most anointed gift will be overlooked.
4. God Cares More About Who You Are Than What You Can Do
The Bible tells us that man looks at the outward appearance, but God looks at the heart (1 Samuel 16:7). He wants to use us, but He also wants us to reflect His nature. Sometimes, doors don’t open because God is still refining our character.
Talent Without Character is Useless
That TikTok video was a wake-up call. I realized that no matter how gifted or talented we are, character will always be the deciding factor in who wants to work with us, fellowship with us, or trust us. Even in ministry, people will not invite you to speak or collaborate if your attitude doesn’t align with the spirit of Christ.
Jesus showed us that love, humility, and integrity will always be more powerful than talent. If we want doors to open, we need to check our character first.
So, my prayer is this: Lord, develop in me the character that reflects You. Let my gifts make room for me, but let my behavior and attitude keep me in the places You’ve called me to be. Amen.
