The Power of Being Completely Delusional

A couple of years ago, a trend took over TikTok called the “Be Delusional” trend.

Honestly, I’ve been living in a state of complete "delusion" since I was a kid. Back then, family and friends were constantly telling me to "be realistic." Whenever I announced that I’d be a millionaire or meet my favorite pop stars, I was immediately shut down. For a long time, that negativity knocked my confidence and bruised my self-esteem.

Then, one story completely proved to me that unshakeable delusion can totally transform your reality.

Back in 2016, I was completely over living in the UK. I had this sudden, vivid idea to pack up and move to Ghana, West Africa, where my parents were born. I gave myself a strict 3-month timeline to make it happen.

The problem? I had roughly £200 in my bank account, the literal definition of broke. But deep down, I had this undeniable inner knowing that the money would manifest in time.

I committed to daily meditation, scripting, and repeating my affirmation out loud whenever I had a quiet moment:

*“I’m in Ghana living my best life, working online with amazing clients, and I’m happier than I’ve ever been.”*

I looped that statement until it felt like a lived truth. Within weeks, inspired ideas started flooding in. I began selling vintage clothing, vinyl records, band tees, and Dr. Martens on eBay after sourcing them from local thrift stores. In less than a month, my £200 balance shot up to £4,000.

I bought my flight ticket right then and there. Despite all the skepticism from people around me, my dream was materializing.

My bags were packed, and most of my belongings were already shipped across the Atlantic. But right before the trip, I realized I was still short on the total living buffer I wanted.

Instead of panicking, I doubled down on my affirmations, held complete faith, and operated from the state of already having everything secured.

That’s when the miracle happened.

I held two bank accounts: a main current account and a savings account with a credit union that didn't issue debit cards—a setup I used so I wouldn't overspend.

I transferred £1,000 from the credit union to my main account to buy some travel supplies. When I checked the main balance, £2,000 had appeared, but only £1,000 was deducted from my savings. I thought it was a temporary glitch, but over the next few days, every transfer duplicated.

The day before my flight, I checked my account balance: £8,000

Five minutes later, my phone rang. It was the credit union explaining that a major system glitch had caused duplicate transfers for several members without deducting the extra funds from their primary balances. Because of the technical error on their end, they confirmed they would not recall any of the duplicate payouts.

I was completely stunned.

I had more than enough cash to move, settle in, and launch my new life in Ghana stress-free. My "delusion" had literally rewritten my reality.
