I remember when I just started out in business and there were about 10 of us spread all over doing the same thing. Life was good, business was blooming with at least 10 plus new customers daily.
- Your work was appreciated
- Clients and customers always keep their appointments and there was no need to send reminders
- Clients referred friends and families (I mean their entire family) without being asked
- Products and equipments cost way less
- So it was easy to keep cost of running your business down
Now it's a whole other ball game. Everyone can go on social media, watch a few videos, call and cancel their service or order because "I just watched a video and will do it myself" and you are looking at all the Certificates on your wall proving the years and time spent learning to get to where you are now.
Was it a waste or does it still matter?
What's the point of it now?
You can't seem to keep clients because "My cousin can do it and much cheaper" whilse your bill is adding up, products are just seating on the shelves, most of us come in on a work day only to go back home empty and hoping it to be better tomorrow.
I once had a customer order an item only to have her call to cancell the order because she "went online and did it myself". It did not compare no way to my handcrafted item with care taken for details, which is some of the reason I am still going on.
