This is true, unfortunately. But shipping does cost me money. And the books are signed, which is something you can't get from Amazon! Keep an eye out for discounts and promo codes for free shipping. If you're someone I know in person whom I see semi-regularly, I can deliver books that way and forget about shipping (shoot me an email at ej@ejfisch.com and we'll get something worked out).
I'm also always happy to sign print copies you've previously purchased from Amazon and other retailers.

In the case of the ebooks in particular, quite frankly, you save more money and I also make more money. Everybody wins. I also profit more from print sales here than I do on Amazon, and you get a signed book. Again, everybody wins. So regardless of which format you buy in, you're helping support an independent author, and neither of us is restricted by whatever constraints the larger retailers may have.

Good question! They're technically all part of the same series and can be read in numerical order. Despite being displayed as Legacy Part 1 and Legacy Part 2, Fracture and Embers are books #4 and #5 in the overall series, respectively. However, I've kind of designed this Legacy duology to be a jumping-in point for new readers; it takes place 4 years after the main trilogy and has a completely new plot arc. Fracture also opens with a fairly extensive recap of the main trilogy so nobody should be completely lost. If you choose to start with Fracture, you might miss out on some character development and more subtle continuity details, but the two Legacy books can certainly be read and enjoyed independently. My hope, of course, is that most readers choose to start with book #1 (Dakiti) and follow the characters' journey for the duration of the series.

Not at all! My novellas and short stories are designed to be standalone and enjoyed by anyone, regardless of whether you've read the rest of the series. I would argue that certain aspects might have more impact if you've read some/all of the main books (there are LOTS of Easter eggs for veteran Ziva Payvan series readers), but you certainly won't feel like you're missing out on anything. In fact, my short pieces are a great way to test the waters, so to speak. If you're not ready to commit to a full novel, they offer a great glimpse into my universe and writing style.
