Welcome! Efficient Mechanical Systems including sustainable High Efficient Boilers, Radiant Heating Tubing, Solar Thermal Collectors, and High Efficient Water Heaters.

Welcome and What Next?

Welcome!

Hello! My name is Waylon Lowery. I live and work in Reno, Nevada. I am a registered Professional Mechanical Engineer in Nevada and California. I have 21 plus years of experience working for a Plumbing/Mechanical Contractor as a Design/Build Engineer, Estimator, and Project Manager. Before that, I worked for 4 years at the local Power company as a Power Plant Performance Engineer.

My areas of expertise include: Boilers, Solar Thermal Systems, Steam Systems, Hydronics, Chillers, Cooling Towers, Booster Pumps, ECM Pumps, Water Heaters, Natural Gas and Propane systems, Controls, Troubleshooting, Commissioning, and General Plumbing. In addition, I am extremely well versed in putting together Bid Estimates and winning bids. I also excel at Project Management and completing large mechanical construction projects on time and under budget.

I have been a member of many professional groups over the years, including ASHRAE, IAPMO, and the Radiant Panel Association. I have had a Solar Thermal project published in Radiant Living Magazine, and I have written several articles for Northwoods Magazine. I also have had two projects win 1st place System Showcase Awards with the Radiant Panel association. I have served on the local IAPMO board for two years, and I am currently the acting President.

I feel that my greatest strengths come from the fact that I have worked for a Contractor that does Bid/Build Work and Design/Build Work. As a result, I have gotten to see the designs of other engineers and see how their designs translate to the field. In addition, I have gotten to design my own projects and then supervise the installation. I also have gotten to work in both New Construction and Service, so I have gotten to see what works, what lasts, and what doesn't.

My greatest accomplishments are that I have gotten to design and supervise countless high-efficient and sustainable mechanical projects that have lowered my client's carbon footprint while saving them money!

What Next?

In the future, I will be using this blog to share my experiences and knowledge in order to help others as they strive to design and install their own energy efficient mechanical systems. I will be covering a wide variety of topics that are important to me.

Firstly, I will be covering various Mechanical Engineering topics that are related to efficient designs and sustainability. This will include topics related to piping methods, control strategies, and efficiency measures.

Secondly, I will be covering topics related to successful Estimating, Project Management, and General Work Execution.

Thirdly, I will be highlighting the Excel spreadsheets that I will have available for download. Some of these will be free, and some of these will be available for a small fee.

Finally, I will be discussing the Engineer, Career, and Life Coaching that I will be offering soon.

Welcome to my site, and I look forward to helping and working with you in the future.
