Artwork reveal for Violent ABOVE! Your first look at Violet.
I’ve been writing Vile this past week and I'm a little bit stuck. Moving forward I have a few ideas; I need the tension between the new male character and my main female character to increase and kind of explode. So that they can be separated and have to come back together against their will. Hopefully, I'll get it worked out over the next week. Still, one handed I'm using talk to texting which I hate. It doesn't do the best job for what I need. Sometimes it writes out the word for the punctuation or a different word that I never said. When I go back to try to fix it I can't remember what I said and what's written there makes no sense. It’s frustrating.
I've also been working with my editor on the final edits and formatting for Violent. I'm really happy with how it's come out. I have a really cool knife for the chapter headings which I love and we’re using this same blood drip that was the chapter headings in Origin of Violet In this story. There's a subtle flipping between Origin of Violet to Violent. It’s part of her transformation into the hunter that she is now. I hope readers enjoy it as much as I've enjoyed writing it.
I got a message this morning from one of my ARC readers for Force Majeure. It was a very nice email, and she very kindly told me that the book was not for her, and she couldn't finish reading it, she just wanted to let me know. This type of communication doesn’t bother me. I appreciate hat she tried to read it and she told me she's not going to finish reading.
I’ve heard a few more horror stories from ARC readers who said that they’re afraid of authors who come down on them for not meeting their deadlines. Which as we've discussed previously is 2 weeks on average. ARC readers also worry about not liking the book and how to tell the author. I never understand an author who is frustrated by readers who don't like their books. If everyone liked everything the same our lives would be very boring with everything always the same. There would be nothing new, exciting, or different. Doesn't sound like a place I would want to live.
I am a little bit frustrated that I haven't gotten more reviews from my ARC readers. I was hoping for at least 10, I think I have about 4 or 5. However I did hear from a couple people who said that they would have reviews by the requested date which is august 30th and the book read release is August 31st. For Violent, I have 29 ARC readers signed up so far. That’s pretty good especially when I haven’t really done any major advertising of the upcoming ARC. I plan to work on that this weekend and see if I can get to at least 50 sign ups. You never know, sometimes the most insignificant thing influences readers to sign up. More important than the sign ups though, I would really like the actual reviews.
I'm having a problem with my E-Pub File format. It's frustrating when there are formatting issues. It’s come so far by that point having written the book, edit the book, proofread the book, and you’re down to the final thing! Which is the madding! And when there’s a glitch at that point you’re just stuck until your’r formatter can resolve whatever it is. Unfortunately, sometimes it's not obvious which makes it extra frustrating for both of you. My formatting person has been having some difficulty with Violent File. I converted Force Majeure to E-Pub myself. So, I'm not sure where the glitch happened as far as getting it to upload on BookSirens, but it has an issue with paragraph indents, and they won’t accept it.
I finally see my surgeon again on September 5th, I'm hoping at that point he will remove the remaining pin from my thumb, and I’ll be able to begin physical therapy and regain some use of my hand. Last weekend I had a minor emergency when one of the pins came halfway out of my thumb on its own. Of course, my husband and I panicked--it looked freaky! It’s bad enough I’ve had two pins on my thumb all this time, but to then see it sticking out much further than it was previously, that’s quite the shock. Thankfully he was able to remove it without difficulty and I wasn’t injured, nor did we have any complications. Just need my remaining pin removed and hopefully this hard brace I have to wear, so I can use my right hand again.
Have the upcoming Readers Break the Internet Horror Edition which has now been moved to September 28th at 7:00 PM EDT. I’m very excited about this event I will be presenting from my new books Origin of Violet and Violent. Haven't decided yet what excerpts I'm reading. But I'm going to be thinking about it and get it together soon. Since it's only about a month away I need to get swag together and sent out to the hostess of our event. Swag and raffle items for Violet are very cool. If you sign up for the swag tier of this event, you're really going to be happy with what you receive. I’ll put a link to the sign-up form at the end of this blog.
I also have a new dilemma that I haven't totally figured out yet. I put Force of Corruption and Force Majeure on kindle unlimited or KU... Now I'm going to be releasing Origin of Violet and Violent. Violent is going on kindle unlimited or KU also. I'm not sure how to handle Origin of Violet. If I put it on KU, it'll be free to a large number of people. However, I will not be able to distribute it free to anyone outside of Kindle Unlimited. I want to put the book file on BookFunnel and give out the link to people who subscribe to my newsletter or anyone else that I think would be interested in reading the stories. I'm not sure yet how to work that out. I really want to keep it free for me to hand out and for those who subscribe to my newsletter. It’s also going to be in the front and back of my books to sign up for my newsletter/subscribe and get the free book. Not really sure how I'm gonna work it out, but it needs to be soon ‘cause the ARCs are going out September 6th.
I also was supposed to be on an Australian podcast a few days ago over the weekend. Somehow there was a mix up with schedule I was there, but she wasn’t. Which is fine, it didn’t disrupt my day. It's just kind of weird working with the time difference it's 13 1⁄2 hours between me and Australia from where I am in Florida. So, when it was Friday night for me it was Saturday morning for her. We’re supposed to reschedule if I get it worked out and it’s actually gonna be on, I’ll let you know.
I also signed up for someone to read Force of Corruption and then give me a big review on their website or Youtube channel or social media. I think it’s coming up in a couple weeks mid September. I haven’t heard from them in a while I probably should check in and see what’s going on with that. They said I didn’t have to do anything just send them the links for the book and they would get the book and read it. We'll see what they have to say, hopefully something good. I’m happy with Force of Corruption since I redid it.
Once again, this blog is a little short It's really hard for me to talk to text the device never says what I'm saying correctly, and I spend a long time saying it and then an even longer time fixing it before I can get it posted. I was running late today anyway, and I have to get up early, everything is a struggle when you only have one hand! I know I'm whining but it's getting old only having my left hand available. Especially when I have to go somewhere tomorrow which is really hard and my husband won't be home to help me. So, I guess what I’m saying is feel sorry for me and buy my books! Just kidding! Please no pity purchases, I just needed to vent.
I hope you have a fantastic weekend and as always thank you for reading.
