I haven’t written a blog in a while because I’ve been busy grieving. But I’m trying to ease my way back to normal. It’s not easy. Grief sucks, loss sucks, you don’t realize how much it affects you until you discover you’re not functioning. So, I may still be off schedule with my blog posts, but I’m going to try to post them when I can.
I have TWO new releases coming 3/28 I haven’t done much posting about them; I haven’t done much posting at all, but I need to force myself to get back online. Deadly-Go-Round is a novella horror. It’s a weird story with some serial killers from history and how a family on vacation gets wrapped up with them. It has a ‘premade’ cover I purchased from a cover artist last year and I love it.
Vile is the final book in Violet’s Tales trilogy. It’s the first time I ever finished a series and I’m excited about it. I love the cover and the interior graphics. This one has a cover from my regular cover designer. She did a fantastic job capturing what I wanted for the images. She also delivered some graphics to advertise the trilogy, and she put Sawyer, Violet’s cat on them, he’s awesome!
I have an ARC sign up started but I haven’t done much with it for Vile, I’m not doing one for Deadly-Go-Round. I have only about 8 people signed up for the ARC but they’re all people who have reviewed for me in the past and they are reliable, so I expect above average returns from them. I'll be sending it out to my newsletter subscribers and posting on several sites next week. I'll get the ARCs sent out by the end of next week probably, I agreed to send only five physical copies to past reviewers.
I’m also slowly preparing for the two live events I'm attending this summer. I have my pre-order forms set up and posted. I have my tablecloth and signs. Also stocking up on paperback copies though I won’t bring a huge amount because people can just order from my website if I run out, but I don’t expect a huge rush on sales at the events. It’s more about getting my name out there and being able to add a live event to my resume. I’m also looking forward to meeting some colleagues. A lot of local authors will be there, and it’ll be great to meet some and maybe make a local friend. All my author friends are in AZ for some reason.
In order to distract myself while I’ve been fighting off grief and depression, I've been reading lots of books. It’s been almost exclusively shifter romance. I know it’s a weirdly specific genre and I’m not sure why I’ve been finding comfort in the furry beasts. I’ve read several good books and it’s been nice to veg out in a fantasy world. But now of course I can’t help thinking I may want to write my own shifter romance. After I finish Force of Attraction and and The Profit of course! There will still be an MC Series too.
After several formatting struggles, I think I’ve decided to learn how to do my own formatting. I want to purchase Atticus and learn how to use it extremely well, so I don’t need to rely on others for formatting. I’ve researched costs and Articles is very reasonable. Google documents may also be a choice going forward because for some reason Word likes to become overly stylized and it never wants to translate for publishing.
Story Ideas have been flowing like crazy during this down time and I am planning many new stories. Here’s hoping I can finally get my ass in gear and get them written. With these new releases on 3/28, I will have 8 EIGHT published books!!! How crazy is that? When I published my first in November 2023, I never imagined I would be this far down the road just a year and a half later!
