Regarding music tech

After years of working in studios and using many platforms, I settled on iPad/Mac combination for music production. Then discovered the power of Maschine and Komplete by Native instruments which allows easy scoring for TV, adverts etc.

I'm not in the Apple camp particularly, but they are the most stable (in my opinion) and the software we use is not riddled with social networking or bugs. I had to consider this with many of my pupils being younger. An iPad that can run GarageBand is all you need - oh and to install GarageBand!! For a powerful studio, Maschine Mikro and a decent laptop/pc/mac is an ideal investment. Please get in touch for a chat about this.

I will also help you getting Maschine / Maschine Mikro and all your NI software set up, if you are interested in those products after watching some demo videos.

Personally, if setting up a new studio, I'd use my existing laptop and buy a Maschine Mikro for an under £200 budget. The audio bundles that come with Maschine are incredible, as well as the synthesisers. NEVER buy a second hand NI product! It will be licensed to another user and it's very difficult to sort that out.
