Camarada,
I've been working hard to challenge my own perspective of my world. What I once saw as grief and confusion, now bring me happiness and peace. This abrupt change in perspective has been in conflict with my old self, James Phillip Esparza. Someone that embodied a dead seed, un semilla muerto, but still grew into life.
This is good news reader, I no longer see the world as doom and gloom, apathetic and bitter. I believe you know what I mean when I say. We are human and we are all suffering an abrupt change in our life time. Whether you choose to ignore it, thats on you, but since we face the challenge to even address it. I can't avoiding it, so let's be in conflict as wise warriors. I invite you to grow la semilla in you.
The world is changing and what once ways will no longer remain because it has been determined by others outside of our influence. I have learned many lessons this growing season, some beyond the garden and into a short mountain. Where life lives and that which provides a perspective lost to the modern world. I recently learned of West African ancestral abuelas braiding semillas into their hair as they are forced to board transatlantic slave ships. Colonialist won't understand the weight of this act, because where does your semillas comes from dear reader? Half way into this blog post, I find myself being upset. I must confront the reality that you are the problem, as I have for myself. I'm no colonialist and I hope your not one too but we must acknowledge the privilege we hold in living "the Yankee American dream". Brain washed into thinking its okay to waste precocious soil, shit & piss in water, and stop life from living in the most unconscious way. It can take a life time of reflection to gain ancestral wisdom to be conscious and to understand the unseen. I know this road is long ahead of me since I just started dreaming but I feel closer to becoming my ancestors dream. Semillas are living beings that have traveled across space and time to reach the right moment to be planted and cared for in the most brutal environments. Why else would warriors save semillas, if not to continue life and hold our ancestors alongside us as we fight the feverish nightmarish yankee american dream.
I said this there is good news reader. You no longer see the world the same way and your are saving your semillas for the next harvest. I hoping you know that your semilla is alive and ready to grow just as I do.
