Prep Your Vegetables and Herbs Like a King or Queen

Welcome to Day 4 of the Royal Thanksgiving Countdown.

Yesterday your turkey began its royal thaw.

Today is the calm before the flavor storm.

This is where royal kitchens shine, through organization, preparation, and elegance.

Today we prep everything that holds well, and tonight, we begin the royal cleansing brine.

Day 4: The Great Royal Prep Day

Let us be honest.

Nobody wants to chop onions while guests text that they are pulling up.

Nobody wants to peel potatoes on Thanksgiving morning.

Nobody wants to panic about missing herbs.

Today clears all of that.

Today you take control.

Prep the Aromatics You Actually Use

Every feast is different.

Your menu might include stuffing, roasted vegetables, casseroles, soups, pilaf, or dishes unique to your kingdom.

Whatever you are making, today is the perfect day to chop the aromatics that hold well.

Examples include:

Onions

Celery

Garlic

Shallots

Chop only what belongs in your recipes and store everything in airtight containers.

This one step alone removes most of tomorrow’s chaos.

Prep Fresh Herbs

Rinse, dry, wrap gently in a paper towel, and store in zip bags:

Rosemary

Thyme

Parsley

Sage

Dill

Fresh herbs are a royal necessity.

They carry the fragrance of the feast.

Prepare Produce That Holds Well

Carrots

Green beans

Brussels sprouts

Sweet potatoes

Butternut squash

Garlic cloves

Trim, peel, cut, and store dry.

Do not season anything yet.

We preserve purity until tomorrow.

Potatoes: Keep Them Royal

You can peel your potatoes today, but make sure you store them correctly so they stay bright and firm.

Place the peeled potatoes in a large bowl of cold water and keep the bowl in the refrigerator.

Change the water once before bed if you have time.

They will be perfect for roasting or mashing tomorrow.

Pre-Measure Your Ingredients

Measure your spices, herbs, seasoning blends, and any dry ingredients for each recipe.

Label each container so tomorrow feels effortless, almost ceremonial.

Clean and Organize Your Kitchen

Wipe counters

Clear space

Set out knives

Clean cutting boards

Place a fresh towel by the stove

Check your roasting pan, thermometer, foil, and twine

This is the foundation of calm cooking.

A royal kitchen is a clean kitchen.

⭐ Evening Prep: Begin the Royal Cleansing Brine

This is where Day 4 becomes powerful.

Your turkey has thawed beautifully since Day 5.

Tonight, it receives its first royal treatment.

This cleansing brine removes odor, brightens the meat, and prepares the bird for flawless seasoning tomorrow.

Use a large, clean, food-safe bucket or container that fits safely in your refrigerator.

Fill with:

• Cold water

• Fresh sliced lemon

• A splash of white vinegar

• Sea salt

• A small pinch of baking soda

Fully submerge the turkey and refrigerate overnight.

This step prepares the turkey for its seasoning transformation in the morning.

Royal Reminder

Day 4 brings order.

The royal cleansing brine begins tonight.

Tomorrow you season like royalty.

You are ahead.

You are organized.

Your feast is becoming extraordinary.
