It’s not as easy as you thought it would be, is it? It can be really hard when you create something that you KNOW will really help other people (because that’s why you’re providing it!) but they’re not purchasing it.
Does it help you to know that even people who are REALLY good at sales and have been selling online for a long time still have to work at it?
It’s true!
There are a lot of books and audio books that talk about selling, and often it comes down to:
- Pick the best thing to sell (or create it)
- Find the right audience
- Pay a LOT of money to advertise it
and then everything will just fall into place and you’ll have happy customers and great sales!
Sounds easy, right?
Riiiight…
And how much of that is because there’s a sales team with people who have been in marketing for a while?
This might be a big part of the reason that so many people who don’t have their own sales team or a marketing degree have a hard time getting people to buy their products!
And even if you’re a professional writer, you still have to figure out how to write in “sales language” which is almost like trying to learn a new language, even though the words are all in a language that you already know!
And because trying to write that way can end up sounding awkward, that awkwardness comes across to the people you’re trying to help with your product, too.

Yeahhh, I’m in the process of updating them so that the people who would find them REALLY helpful can figure out what I’m trying to help them with.
It’s definitely been a challenge! Even though I know how much help they’d get from them!
However, I’m finally learning how to do that, and it’s because of what I learned when I took an online course that wasn’t just about selling stuff.
