From My Kitchen Table To Yours ~ Let’s Make This Week Count!

There is something about a fresh Monday that feels like a chance to reset.

Not a complete overhaul. Not a brand-new life. Just a chance to look at the week ahead and decide, “I’m going to get something done”.

Because sometimes the biggest thing standing between us and progress isn’t a lack of time.

It’s not knowing where to start.

We have home projects, appointments, work, meals, errands, paperwork, laundry, bills, farm books, things that need ordered, things that need cleaned out, and about twelve other things floating around in our heads at the same time.

And when everything feels important, it’s easy to spend half the day bouncing from one thing to another without actually finishing much of anything.

So this week, let’s keep it simple.

Pick Three Things

Choose three things you would really like to move forward this week.

One for your home.

One for your work, business, farm, or responsibilities.

And one for yourself.

That’s it.

Maybe your three look something like this:

  • Clean out the pantry.
  • Finish the bookkeeping that has been waiting on you.
  • Take an evening to read, walk, work outside, or do something you actually enjoy.

Your list doesn’t have to look impressive.

It just needs to matter to you.

Plan It

Once you have your three things, give each one a place in the week.

Don’t just write “clean pantry” on a giant to-do list and hope you somehow find time.

See where you have a block of time and decide when you’re going to do it.

Monday afternoon.

Wednesday morning.

Saturday before lunch.

schedule it! Putting something on the calendar turns a good intention into an actual plan.

And if you know it’s going to take more than one sitting, break it into smaller pieces.

You don’t have to tackle the whole project at once.

Start It

This may be the most important part.

Start before you feel completely ready.

Open the notebook.

Make the phone call.

Pull everything off one pantry shelf.

Set the timer for 20 minutes.

Put the first load in the washer.

Momentum doesn’t come before we start.

It comes because we begin.

Finish Something

There is a lot to be said for the feeling of crossing something completely off the list.

Not halfway done.

Not “I’ll come back to it.”

Done.

That doesn’t mean every project has to be finished this week. Some things are bigger than that.

But try to choose at least one thing you can take all the way from planned to finished.

That little win can change the whole feel of a week.

Leave Room for Real Life

Of course, the best-laid plans can change quickly.

Someone needs something.

An appointment gets added.

Work runs late.

Farm plans change with the weather.

The day simply doesn’t go the way you thought it would.

That’s real life.

A plan isn’t meant to make you feel behind when things change. It’s there to give you direction when everything else gets noisy.

Move it to another day if you need to.

Change the plan.

Keep going.

Progress still counts.

Let’s Do It Together

So here’s the challenge for this week:

Choose your three priorities.

Write them down.

Decide when you’re going to work on them.

Then start.

Plan it. Start it. Finish it.

We don’t need to do everything this week.

But let’s really get something done.

And by the end of the week, I hope we can look back and say, Yep. I made some progress.

From my kitchen table to yours,

Let’s make this week count. 🤍
