AN ADVENTURE YEARS IN THE MAKING

Growing up in a church, I remember watching the adults play BANG! for the first time and being instantly hooked. Cowboys. Horses. Outlaws. It was everything a kid could ask for in a game. From then on, I played it every Sunday throughout my adolescence, fully immersed in the distinct, pencil sketched visuals of its imaginative, Western world.

Overtime, the joy of playing evolved into a passion for creating. Custom cards and characters, inspired by my childhood Sunday posse, imbued each game with a personal resonance. I suppose that's why we create in the first place: to fill spaces of life with expressions of our unique experience.

When college came around, I began to foray into the larger world of board gaming. As my taste for complexity and breadth increased, BANG! sailed away on a ship of nostalgia, only returning during special moments like wedding gatherings and family reunions. Years past.

In the Spring of 2025, I experienced a deep personal loss just before my 30th birthday. In the ensuing emotional tumult, I found myself revisiting the things of my childhood. Old artworks and cards etched in pencil and crayon reemerged. Feeling echoes of a joy and satisfaction that had come from making them, I decided to finish what I started and fulfill this long dormant endeavor with the skills and tools I've picked up over the past 15 years. And that's how FRONTIER came to be.

It's more than just a game expansion. For me, this represents a journey: a long gestating seed, planted in my youth, blooming from a reminder in my adulthood to remember where you've come from and to actively create your life forward. It's the same belief that inspired pioneers almost 200 years ago. So as you play FRONTIER today, I hope you experience as much enjoyment as I had in making it.
