Future Chron Book 4: To Tend And Watch Over - Introduction

Image: Bruce Rolff

To Tend And Watch Over was finished in January 2017, I’m not sure when it was started. However, when it was first written it was about half the size of the current story. So, I must have several months before. I remember I added all the chapters about the Em core to the original.

The story has very little external conflict, it is a pastoral, almost all the conflict takes place internal to the lead character, Davide. I think it’s about the search for purpose that all of us engage in, and the roadblocks that the world places in our way. But it’s also about getting the help that we need to keep going, even if it isn’t clear to us at the time.

From the blurb:

Sometimes you don’t know you aren’t free until the state’s coercive force is used against you. And then you learn you are only free to do what big brother wants.

Davide Jackson was not as adventurous as the others in his clan. He was more a stay-at-home type.

But that doesn’t mean he longs any less to be free. He just has to learn the cost of freedom.

The story has one of the most fitting images I think for any of my stories. I very much enjoy the work of the artist, Bruce Rolff, which you can find at online sites such as dreamstime.com.
