Future Chron Book 5: Union: A Novella - Introduction

According to my notes this story was started in December 2014 but not completed until February 2017. Rather it was written and then expanded later to novella length. It is one of the first stories I wrote (the other being The Path).

One seen that was added is the workout room aboard the asteroid cycler that moves between Earth and the Asteroid Belt. The room is hollowed out of the core of the spinning asteroid. When a ball is thrown in the room it takes a very unusual path from the point of view of the thrower. If thrown at the right velocity, straight-ahead, it can circle the room and come back to the thrower. I got this idea from a physics paper I ran across.

The blurb:

How far out into the Solar System would you have to run from authoritarian powers to be free?

The answer is that there is no place safe from the powers that would try to control you.

But in numbers, in cooperation, in pledging mutual support and fidelity, freedom might be had. For a price. And that price is resistance, body and spirit, to those that would endeavor to control.

Young Martin Starlifter Jackson, recent graduate of the Mars Space Academy, found himself in a position to lead the independent miners of the Asteroid Belt to freedom. But would he choose to pay the price required?

To purchase.
