ABOUT US

Meet Cappy!

Hello and welcome! My name is Cappy (they/them), founder of Gender Space and Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in Washington State. Learn more about my clinical practice here.

I’m a queer, trans human, trained as a therapist, passionate about community work. I think my journey to into studying psychotherapy began as a way to better understand myself. It's funny- learning about ourselves is critical to learning about others, and connecting with others has been critical for me to develop a better understanding and acceptance of myself.

Through my work, I've come to see that the feelings of internalized shame many of us carry are often a result of comparing ourselves to the standards set by cisnormativity, heteronormativity, and neuronormativity. These norms shape our experiences in ways that we don't realize- until we do. By becoming aware of these norms, we can recognize how they affect us, and consciously choose to reject them. Instead of judging ourselves by these external standards, we can create our own values and live authentically within our own communities.

I’m committed to creating safe, inclusive spaces where we can connect, share our experiences, and build a sense of belonging.

I am the parent of two wild children. We live in the country, and love to spend time outdoors together.

Beyond my love for psychology and sociology, I'm fascinated by extraterrestrial, ultraterrestrial, cryptoterrestrial, multiverse, and conspiracy theories. I love challenging my perspective, and thinking more deeply on the mysteries of existence.

If you're looking for a space to explore, connect, and be yourself, I’d love to be a part of that journey with you.
