When Grace Met My Mess ( and Didn’t Flinch)

Let me tell you about the time I tried to have a peaceful, Pinterest-worthy devotional morning and ended up talking to Jesus from underneath a pile of laundry.

I lit my candle (lavender vanilla, thank you very much), poured some tea, opened my Bible app… and then promptly spilled that tea on the very journal I just designed for Faithful Reflections. I should’ve named it Tea-Stained in Grace.

But here’s the real kicker: as I rushed to blot the page like a CSI agent at a spiritual crime scene, I knocked over the candle—just a little, don’t panic—and that almost started a fire. On the same desk where my “Be Still and Know” sign proudly hangs. Irony? Divine comedy.

It was in that moment—tea dripping, nerves frayed, worship music still playing faintly in the background—that I realized something: grace doesn’t need our mornings to be perfect. It just needs us to show up.

Sometimes your quiet time is deeply holy. Sometimes it’s a battlefield of distractions, wobbly knees, and burned toast. But guess what? God meets us there too. In the middle of our mess. Right on the spilled tea and crumpled to-do lists.

So if today you’re feeling behind, burnt out, or like the only thing “refined” about your faith walk is the sugar in your coffee—take heart.

This space, this store, this journal—everything I create—is for women like us. The ones who keep showing up. Gracefully… or not.

With tea-stained journals and all.

Reflect & Smile:

  • What’s the funniest way God has ever gotten your attention?
  • Have you ever had a moment that felt chaotic—but looking back, you know God used it?

Drop it in the comments or send me a message. I’ll be over here, designing journals that may or may not survive tea.

Love & Laughter,
