A 3-Box Sliding Storage Solution
A messy desk can make it difficult to find the things you need. Books, magazines, pens, keys, coins and small personal items can quickly take over your workspace.
That is why I designed a metal desk organizer made of three sliding boxes, combining practical storage with a simple and modern industrial design.
Three Boxes, Three Storage Levels
The organizer consists of three metal compartments arranged vertically. Each box has a different size and purpose.
1. Large Bottom Box
The largest compartment is located at the bottom and provides plenty of space for books, magazines and larger items.
It is designed to handle the things that normally take up a lot of space on a desk.
2. Medium Middle Box
The middle compartment is smaller and is suitable for small books, notebooks, pens and medium-sized everyday items.
This makes frequently used items easier to organize and access.
3. Small Top Box
The smallest box is positioned at the top and is intended for small personal items, such as coins, keys, jewelry and other accessories.
Having a dedicated place for these small objects helps prevent them from getting lost around the desk.
Sliding Design
One of the main features of this organizer is its sliding-box design.
The small upper box slides over the medium box, while the medium box slides over the larger lower box. This creates a compact storage system while keeping the different compartments accessible.
The sliding mechanism also gives the organizer a unique appearance compared with traditional desk organizers.
Made From Metal
I chose metal because it provides a strong and durable structure while giving the organizer an industrial handmade character.
The design can be made using basic metalworking techniques such as cutting, bending and welding.
Why I Designed It
I wanted to create something that was not only useful but also looked like a real product.
Instead of having separate containers for books, pens and small objects, the three compartments combine different storage needs into one compact organizer.
It can be useful for a home office, workshop, study desk or creative workspace.
Final Thoughts
This 3-box sliding metal desk organizer is a combination of functionality, durability and handmade design.
The large bottom box, medium middle box and small top box each have a specific purpose, making it easier to keep a workspace organized without taking up unnecessary space.
