Romans 12:2 says:
“Do not be conformed to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.”
I’ve always known this verse—but recently, I thought deeply about it.
Above the knowledge you're familiar with, there’s power to transform yourself.
Transform your thoughts. Transform who you are.
Because your mind is the core of who you are.
The renewal of the mind isn’t reserved for a chosen few—it’s available to anyone willing to change.
Every small decision you make is shaping who you become—positively or negatively.
The verse goes on to say, “so that you may prove what is the good, acceptable, and perfect will of God.”
The things of God are not like the things of this world. It takes effort. It takes intentionally shifting from “what’s normal” if you truly want to be the best version of yourself.
And even if you're not a believer—becoming your best self still demands that you give up comfort, routine, and shallow thinking.
You have to dive into the unusual.
Seek knowledge.
Train your mind to understand.
Weigh your own actions in situations and relationships.
Instead of blaming others, learn to look into the mirror.
Love others and show kindness to humanity as you love yourself.
Then—and only then—will you begin to find peace with who you are becoming.
May God help us all.
