My name is Carl Denne, Owner and Chief Instructor at HKA.
I am extremely proud to say at HKA we work closely with the local schools, Academies, East Sussex county council and police to help the local community, alongside running all our kickboxing classes and self-defence classes.
We also have a strong anti-bullying stance at the gym, we work with many children and families across many issues such as mental health, social anxiety and confidence-building work.
I started Boxing when I was just 8 years old, at Age 11, I turned my attention to Kickboxing and Kung Fu, and since then I have never looked back. I loved the sport and was sold! I immersed myself into the world of martial arts and helped out in the dojo as much as I could.
From the age of 11 years old, I’ve spent 6 days a week in a gym. It’s my passion, and now I’m lucky enough to be teaching my skills, encouraging, motivating, allowing others to believe in themselves.
I started coaching from the age of 14 and started running my own gym when I was 17 (1997). I turned professional in 2010 and since then we have grown from strength to strength.
We have just completed our brand new facility at Castleham industrial estate.
A 5000 square foot supercenter. This has been my DREAM since I was 11 years old and I’m incredibly excited to share this new Academy we can call home.

For me, Kickboxing is the best way of losing weight, getting fit and venting all the unwanted anger out of life. It’s a great fun way to work out and will challenge you in ways you can’t imagine.
The mats, the dojo floor – is my happy place, my sanctuary. It gives me a massive place to focus and it allows me to forget about the outside world, even if it is just for an hour or so.
I love to compete and have had a fairly active fighting carrier as a junior into senior,
Kickboxing “is not just a sport – It’s a way of Life”
