Have you ever had one of those moments where life just throws you a curveball so wild, all you can do is either laugh or cry, or maybe do both at the same time?
Yeah, me too. And honestly, I think that’s where faith really becomes real.
I used to think “living by faith” was this superhero-level thing, like something only spiritual giants did. You know, the kind of people who wake up singing hymns, never doubt anything, and just float through life on some divine cloud of certainty.
Spoiler alert: that’s not me.
And if that’s not you either, welcome to the club.
The truth is, faith isn’t always big and bold and confident. Sometimes it’s messy. Sometimes it’s shaky. And sometimes it’s as small as just whispering, “Okay, God… I trust you… I think.”
I didn’t always understand faith this way. In fact, for a long time, I thought faith meant getting everything right. Believe the right way. Say the right things. Have no fear, no questions, no confusion.
But life has a funny way of stripping away all the religious packaging and showing you what’s real underneath. And for me, what’s real is that living by faith often feels more like walking through fog than dancing in the sunlight.
I remember a season when everything I thought I understood got flipped upside down. Things I believed for didn’t happen.
Prayers I prayed felt like they bounced off the ceiling. I started questioning whether I even had faith at all. I mean, if I really trusted God, wouldn’t things be going better? Wouldn’t I feel more peace, more clarity?
But here’s the thing: I started to realize faith isn’t about pretending everything’s fine. It’s about choosing to lean on God when things aren’t.
It’s about deciding, sometimes moment by moment, that even when I don’t have answers, even when my emotions are all over the place, I still believe He’s good.
I still believe He’s with me. And that belief? That’s faith. Raw, unfiltered, “I ’m-holding-on-by-a-thread” kind of faith. And honestly, that’s where some of the most beautiful growth happens.
There’s this verse in 2 Corinthians 5:7 that says, “We walk by faith, not by sight.” I used to quote that like it was a motto. But now? Now it feels like a survival guide. Because some days, walking by sight would be so much easier, if only I could see how the story ends, or at least where the next step lands.
But faith invites us into something deeper. It says, “Trust Me, even when you can’t see Me. Even when the path isn’t lit up and the road is bumpy.” And somehow, even in that uncertainty, God meets us.
You know what else I’ve learned? Living by faith doesn’t mean you’ll never feel fear. It just means fear doesn’t get the final say.
There have been moments I’ve had to do things afraid, launching something new, letting go of control, saying yes when I wanted to run away. But faith gave me the courage to show up anyway. Not because I was strong, but because I believed God would meet me in my weakness.
And friend, He always does.
One of the most surprising things about faith is how gentle it can be. It’s not about pressure or performance. It’s about a relationship. It’s about knowing the One you trust. And I’ve come to love the quiet, steady ways Father God reminds me He’s nearby.
Sometimes it’s a verse that pops into my heart at the perfect moment. Sometimes it’s a conversation with a friend, or even a moment of unexpected peace in the middle of chaos.
God has this beautiful way of showing up in the details when we’re looking for Him with faith.
Now, I’m not saying I’ve figured it all out. I still have questions. I still wrestle. But I’ve learned that doubt doesn’t cancel out faith. In fact, sometimes doubt is just faith stretching its legs. It’s in the wrestling that our trust grows deeper, more personal. It becomes less about formulas and more about fellowship.
So, if you’re reading this and you feel like your faith is small, wobbly, or not “enough,” let me gently remind you, it is.
Jesus said even faith the size of a mustard seed can move mountains. Not because the seed is so big, but because of who we’re putting our faith in.
It's not the size of your faith, friend, it's the size of your God.
Here’s what I want to leave you with: living by faith is a journey. It’s not a checklist or a destination. It’s a daily walk, a conversation between you and God.
Some days you’ll feel full of trust and strength. Other days, you’ll wonder if you’re going to make it. But every single day, you’re invited to take one more step, to lean a little deeper, to trust a little more.
And when we fall? Because let’s be real, we will. Faith doesn’t demand perfection. It just asks us to get back up and keep walking.
So, take heart. You’re not alone. And this journey of faith you’re on? It matters even when it’s quiet, even when it’s hard. Especially when it’s hard.
We’re all learning to walk by faith, one step at a time. And if today all you can do is whisper, “God, I trust You,” then that’s more than enough.
From one fellow traveller to another, keep walking.
