I’ve been meaning to sit down and chat with you about something that’s been stirring in my heart lately, something so beautiful and so real that it honestly feels too big to put into words. But I’m going to try anyway if that’s ok.
You know when you’ve got that deep peace, that sense that even in the chaos of life, you’re held, you’re loved, and you’re not walking through anything alone? Well, that’s the Holy Spirit.
I know we’ve all talked about Him before, sometimes in bits and pieces, sometimes in passing, sometimes when life has pushed us to the edge and we didn’t know what else to hold on to.
But lately, I’ve been rediscovering just how amazing, how breathtaking, and how deeply personal the Holy Spirit really is. And if you're anything like me, you don't want just a biblical lesson, you want the heart of it. So, here goes.
Let me tell you this: the Holy Spirit isn’t some vague, floaty force or a distant power only meant for the super-spiritual. No. He’s God, real, present, and intimately involved in our lives.
When Jesus said, “I will not leave you as orphans,” He meant it. And how did He keep that promise? By sending the Holy Spirit to be with us and to live in us.
Think about that for a moment. I mean really think about this! God in US!
The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead now lives in you and me. The same Spirit! Wow! If that doesn’t stir something inside, maybe check your pulse!
For me, one of the most mind-blowing things about the Holy Spirit is how personal He is. He knows us. I mean really, really knows us, every fear, every doubt, every messy, tangled-up thought. And still, He loves us.
He comforts us when we’re broken, guides us when we’re confused, and even nudges us when we need a little (or a big) correction.
Honestly, I’ve had moments where I’ve just been sitting in my bedroom, overwhelmed with life, and all of a sudden, I feel this quiet whisper in my heart saying, “You’re not alone. I’m here, it’s ok.” That’s Him. That’s the Spirit, That’s the wonder of His fullness. In You!
Now, I know life doesn’t always feel “Spirit-filled.” Sometimes it feels like we’re just surviving. But the Holy Spirit isn’t limited to mountaintop moments. He’s just as present when we’re crying in the shower, sitting in traffic, or trying to hold our family together with duct tape and prayer.
He empowers us in the every day, in the ordinary, and in the impossible.
And can we talk about how He equips us? I used to think spiritual gifts were for special people in pulpits or with ministries.
Nope. If you believe in Jesus, the Spirit has given you and me, say again you gifts, unique, powerful gifts to build up others, your family, and impact the world around your environment.
Maybe it’s encouragement. Maybe it’s wisdom. Maybe a financial gift. Maybe you’ve got a crazy strong faith that makes people feel comfortable just being around you. That’s the Holy Spirit in action.
But here’s the thing I’ve come to love most about Him: He transforms us. Not by guilt-tripping us into being “better Christians,” but by working gently and powerfully from the inside out.
When I look back on who I was five years ago, even two years ago, I can see His fingerprints all over my growth. And trust me I never stop learning, even at this old age, Haha!
He’s making us more like Jesus every day, slowly but surely. More loving, more patient, bolder, more kind. And sometimes the growth is so subtle, you don’t notice it until someone else points it out.
And then there’s this beautiful promise the Spirit gives us: hope. We talk a lot about hope like it’s a wish or a “maybe someday” kind of thing. But biblical hope, it’s anchored. It’s alive.
For me my friend, the Holy Spirit keeps my eyes up when the world says, “Look down.” He reminds me, “This isn’t the end. I am coming back soon. And until then, I’m with you.” That kind of hope sustains me when the night is long, and the answers are few. Trust me, I’ve clung to that more times than I can count.
So, if you’ve ever wondered if God’s forgotten you, or if you’re doing this faith thing “right,” or if you’re just feeling spiritually stuck, please, please hear this: You are not alone.
The Holy Spirit hasn’t moved out or gone silent. He still lives in you and He’s closer than your next breath.
You don’t have to perform to earn His presence. Just talk to Him. Invite Him into the messy. Invite Him into the mundane. And be prepared, He’ll surprise you.
I’ll leave you with this: the Holy Spirit isn’t just a biblical truth to understand. He’s a Person to know. A friend. A comforter. A fire living within us.
He’s the daily reminder that we are loved beyond measure, called with purpose, and never abandoned.
And the more we walk with Him, and remember, again, He lives in us, the more we begin to see that every part of life, every joy, every pain, every step, is holy ground.
I know because He has become my best friend, and he want you to be His best friend.
I hope this stirred your heart a bit like it stirred mine while writing. Let’s keep leaning in. Let’s keep listening. And let’s never forget the amazing wonder of it all.
