How To Be More Consistent

You know those mornings where nothing seems to go right — breakfast spills, socks disappear, tantrums erupt before you’ve even had coffee 😫?

It can feel like chaos is the default, and it's set to 11.

But here’s the secret to calming that chaos: consistency is your superpower. 🌟

Because when your toddler knows what to expect — and sees that you follow through — they feel safer, calmer, and more confident.

And you?

You get less stress and fewer battles over small things. 🌿

Try this today — the Set–Follow–Repeat method:

  • 1️⃣ Set a few simple routines around times that matter most (morning, bedtime, mealtimes).
  • 2️⃣ Follow them, every day, even when it feels tedious. Consistency teaches boundaries and predictability.
  • 3️⃣ Repeat the same approach day after day. Over time, it will become automatic for both of you.

💡 Quick tip: Focus on 1–3 key routines first and try to find the ones that are easiest to implement, ones that you might already have a routine around that you just never noticed (think: Bath → Story → Bed).

And here's a little something special just for you, to help remember the lesson:

You won't find this in my regular resources section; this is a special private link just for toddler moms who read this post. A gentle reminder to print and post on your fridge. 💗

Don’t overwhelm yourself or your toddler — even small, consistent steps make a big difference.

Just remember: Routines can take a little while to settle in, so the more consistent you are over time — even if they push back in the beginning— the more comforting the routines will become to your toddler.

And once they "click," that's when the real magic happens!

What you'll see over time and why:

  • Toddlers thrive on predictability; knowing what to expect keeps them feeling secure, and more security = calmer kids.
  • When expectations are consistent, kids push back less, less pushback = fewer power struggles and more connection.
  • When you and your toddler are calmer and more connected, the whole house feels more content. Calm, secure toddlers = a more content household.
