How One Dog Opened the Door to My Purpose

How One Dog Opened the Door to My Purpose

I didn’t always write.

In fact, I never planned to. It only began a few years ago—because of Mikey.

Mikey wasn’t just my dog. He was my soul companion. My mirror. My teacher in ways I never saw coming. When he was diagnosed with skull bone cancer, my world cracked open. I walked beside him through every painful step of that journey, and somewhere along the way, something shifted.

I began to hear him.

Not with words, but with a message so clear I couldn’t deny it:

“Tell my story.”

That was the moment everything changed.

I didn’t know what I was doing—I just knew I had to get it out. His story. Our story. There was something sacred in it. Something bigger than both of us. Writing became my way of honoring him. Of keeping his spirit alive. Of turning the ache in my chest into something that could reach someone else.

And once I started, I couldn’t stop.

From One Story to Something Much Bigger

What started as Mikey’s story opened a door to something deeper. Through writing, I didn’t just share his truth—I unlocked my own.

I realized how many people were carrying quiet grief, unspoken love, and buried pain.

I saw myself in them.

And I knew they’d see themselves in me.

So I kept writing.

Because if Mikey’s presence could awaken something powerful in me, maybe—just maybe—my words could do the same for someone else

Why I Write Now

I write for the animals who can’t speak for themselves.

I write for the people who feel deeply and think they’re alone.

I write for the quiet ones—the empaths, the survivors, the souls healing in silence.

I write for you—if you’ve ever felt like your love was too big, your pain too heavy, or your story too small to matter.

Writing is how I reach out and say:

You’re not alone.

Your grief has meaning.

Your love still lives.

And everything you’ve been through can become part of something beautiful.

What My Writing Offers

My words come from lived experience—not from theory or polished perfection.

Every sentence is rooted in truth, feeling, and a lifetime of listening to both animals and humans.

Here’s what you’ll find in my work:

Raw emotional honesty

A gentle guide through grief and transformation

Tools for protecting your energy and staying soft in a hard world

A voice that sees both your pain and your power

Deep respect for the bond between animals and the ones who love them

If You’ve Found Me, It’s for a Reason

The people who land here aren’t random.

They’re seekers. Feelers. Wounded healers. People who’ve carried too much alone.

Maybe you’re one of them.

And if you are, I want you to hear this:

Your story matters.

Your love matters.

Even the hardest things you’ve lived through can become part of your purpose.

I’m not here to be perfect. I’m here to be real.

And I’m here because of Mikey.

He showed me the way.

Now I walk it—for him, for the animals, and for you.

With all my heart,

Nikky
