Iolair Yarn stands for high-quality hand-dyed yarn using luxurious natural fibre blends, such as alpaca, non-superwashed merino wool, cashmere and silk.

Wandering through Scotland’s magnificent landscapes, I am fascinated and inspired by its ever-changing skies and its rich colours that change with the seasons. All of Iolair Yarn is dyed by me in small batches, trying to capture and reproduce these colours using my own mixed dye recipes.

If I am not in my little studio in East Lothian right by the sea, you will find me walking with my whippet Yula somewhere in Scotland. Oh yes, and I will be knitting too, always thinking of ways to develop simple but effective patterns for accessories that might work with my yarn.
