Let's talk about what is humility; Humility is a personal attitude of dependence on God and respect for others. It is a God-given virtue that reflects holy living. True humility recognizes that God is in control and that every good thing comes from Him.
Jesus is the greatest example of humility. His love was sacrificial because He humbled Himself and willingly went to the cross for us. Love is sacrificial.
"In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus… He humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross!"

To have the mind of Christ means to walk in humility, to submit to God's will, and to love others sacrificially.
"Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?' But we have the mind of Christ."

The Bible teaches that humility leads to wisdom:
"Wisdom's instruction is to fear the LORD, and humility comes before honor."
— Proverbs 15:33 (NIV)
Jesus humbled Himself in perfect obedience to the Father's will. He trusted that God was in control, and God gave Him the strength to endure suffering. Jesus understood that His sacrifice on the cross was for the benefit of others—for our salvation and the forgiveness of our sins.
When Jesus died on the cross, He was thinking of us. He desired to restore our relationship with the Father.
"But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

Because of His obedience and humility, God highly exalted Him.
"Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name."
— Philippians 2:9 (NIV)
Jesus described Himself as:
"I am gentle and humble in heart."

Today, seek opportunities to be humble and gentle toward others. Remember that gentleness is not weakness; it is strength under control, motivated by love.
"Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near."
— Philippians 4:5 (NIV)
Reflect: In what areas of your life is God calling you to humble yourself and serve others as Christ did? Are there places where pride, selfishness, or the desire to be recognized has taken the place of love and obedience? Ask the Lord to reveal opportunities to put others before yourself.
Today's prayer:
Lord, help me to have the mind of Christ. Teach me to walk in humility, to serve others with sacrificial love, and to trust Your will above my own. Clothe me with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.
