Edited to add: The ‘pages to print’ ONLY works for version 1.0 of booster A books. If you have v.1.1, edit the page numbers to one less (i.e. if it says page 4, make it page 3).
Edited to add: To save ink, I did not print the ‘title page’ of each book as it is basically the same as the ‘cover page.’ To compensate for that, I have to add extra blank pages so that all pages line up. So when you see the blank pages before the ‘back cover,’ they are intentional and not because it printed wrongly; you won’t be missing any important pages.
Printing your own book for homeschooling can be a real pain but for us who live outside of US and want to save a hefty amount (because shipping is ridiculous!), it can be the only sensible option. It’s overwhelming at the beginning but after my share of wasted paper and precious drop of ink, I’ve come to love the process. And so today, I’m sharing how to easily print The Good and the Beautiful Reading Booster A Books in mini booklets as close as the actual size of the printed version from the company.

These readers are part of the Language Arts Level K from The Good and the Beautiful (TGTB) that you can download here for free. Make sure to get the free Adobe Acrobat Reader (others recommend Foxit Reader) to easily open and print your downloaded pdfs.

Once you’ve downloaded the file from TGTB, open the Booster A Books pdf file using Acrobat. We will be printing the pages in batches, one book at a time beginning with Book 1 “I Dig” all the way to Book 20.

Basically, we will print in landscape mode 4 pages in a sheet of paper, double-sided, and flipped on the short edge. I am using Mac (I believe it’s gonna be something similar with windows) and here’s how my printer dialogue looks like:

Now, the trickiest part is the order by which the pages ought to be printed per book. But, lucky you, I’ve sorted it all out! I’ve done the geeky part, now all you have to do is copy and paste (you’re welcome 😊). Copy the page numbers (see “Pages to Print” below) accordingly depending on which book you are printing. Then, paste them into the input box next to “Pages” under “Pages to Print” on the printer dialogue.

Don’t forget to tick “Print as Image” under “Advanced” option at the top before hitting the print button.
You will then have 2 sheets of paper printed back-to-back. Here’s how Book 2 came out from my printer:

Carefully stack the 2 sheets, then cut them horizontally across the middle as shown below:

Place the lower half over the upper portion.

Fold the left side forward over the right, revealing the cover page of the book.

Finally, staple at the middle and you have your nice mini booklet.

Phew! We made it… 19 more mini books to go 😅
Have a joy-filled homeschooling!
