Sometimes, the hardest battles aren’t the ones we see coming — they’re the ones that catch us off guard. Yet there’s something powerful about those unexpected battles: they reveal God’s strength in ways we never could have planned.
It’s better to face the battle you didn’t expect than the one you caused yourself. Why? Because when it’s a battle not of your making, God fights on your behalf. You can stand still and see His salvation. He steps in, takes over, and turns what was meant for harm into victory.
But the battles we create — through poor choices, impatience, or disobedience — teach us something different. They become classrooms of grace, where we learn to walk wisely and not return to the same place again. God will still see us through, but He often allows those moments to shape our character and strengthen our discernment.
So whether it’s the battle you walked into or the one that walked into you — remember this: you’re never alone in the fight.
The unexpected battles reveal His power; the self-made ones reveal His mercy.
