Food for Thought: Touching Jesus

In a moment of desperate faith, the woman with the issue of blood reached beyond the crowds and touched the hem of Jesus’ garment — not out of curiosity, but out of deep, determined belief. For twelve long years, she had suffered, rejected, and isolated, yet still she pressed through. Her faith refused to let her stay where she was.

Her touch wasn’t accidental; it was intentional. It wasn’t a brush of the hand — it was a cry of the heart. She reached for Jesus with everything she had left. And in that one act, heaven took notice.

Jesus felt something leave Him — virtue, power, life itself. He turned and asked, “Who touched Me?” The crowd was confused. But He knew the difference between the press of people and the pull of faith.

He saw her. He called her “Daughter.” And with that one word, her twelve years of pain and shame were replaced with belonging, healing, and restoration. “Your faith has made you whole,” He said (Mark 5:34).

This story reminds us that touching Jesus is all that really matters.

When we reach beyond our circumstances and lay hold of Him — not just with our hands, but with our hearts — everything changes.

Even when it feels like He’s walking by, even when it seems He’s focused elsewhere, reach out anyway. One touch of faith can stop Him in His tracks. One moment of surrender can bring the miracle you’ve been waiting for.

Don’t wait for Him to come closer — He’s waiting for you to reach. The crowd may be noisy, the doubts may be loud, but your faith will always get His attention.

He already has everything you need. All He’s waiting for is your touch.

Reach out… and be made whole.
