Here’s a thought… Why were grapes crushed with the feet?
Because the feet can feel.
In the ancient process of winemaking, grapes weren’t crushed by machines or heavy stones, but by the gentle pressure of human feet. There was a reason for that — sensitivity. The feet could sense the texture and firmness of the grapes. As they pressed, they could feel the seeds beneath, careful not to crush them. Crushing the seed would release bitterness into the wine and destroy the potential for new growth.
It’s a powerful image when you think about how God allows pressure in our lives.
Sometimes it feels like we’re being trampled by circumstances — relationships, finances, waiting seasons, or spiritual battles. But the truth is, God’s feet are gentle. His pressure is purposeful. He knows just how much to allow, and He never crushes the seed of purpose He planted in us.
He’s pressing out the juice — the anointing, the richness, the essence — without destroying what carries life inside of you.
You might feel the weight, but He’s not trying to break you; He’s trying to bring something beautiful out of you. The process produces something far greater than the pain — new wine.
Remember, the seed that remains uncrushed still has the power to reproduce.
So even while you’re being pressed, you’re not being destroyed. You’re being prepared.
Scripture Reflection:
“We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair.” — 2 Corinthians 4:8
Thought to Ponder:
God never wastes a pressing. Trust His touch — He feels what you feel.
