In light of what our country has just faced, I feel led to share something very personal — a song I wrote called Memories.
This song was born in 2010, during one of the hardest seasons of my life. I was walking through the pain of losing family members who meant the world to me. The grief was overwhelming, and I found myself clinging to the moments we had shared together. Writing Memories became a way for me to process that pain and hold on to the love that still remained in my heart.
The words came from a very real place:
I love you more than I can say,
I miss you more and more each day.
I try to think about what is to come,
But in your memories, I’m undone.
Even though time has moved forward, the truth is, grief never fully disappears. Instead, it changes shape. Sometimes it softens, sometimes it lingers heavy. But through it all, one thing remains: the memories we hold on to. They become treasures that remind us of the love we experienced and the lives that touched ours so deeply.
I know many people in our nation are grieving right now — grieving loved ones, grieving losses of all kinds. My prayer is that this song will bring you comfort in the same way it did for me when I first wrote it. If you have faced the loss of a loved one, I pray Memories helps bring healing to your heart.
Music has a way of reaching places that words alone cannot. My hope is that as you listen, you are reminded that you’re not alone in your grief, and that even in sorrow, there is strength, love, and hope to carry you forward.
