We all have plans. Some are small—what we’ll eat for dinner, where we’ll go this weekend. Others are big—career goals, family dreams, or the life we imagine for ourselves. But what happens when God interrupts those plans?
The Disruption That’s Divine
In Scripture, we see over and over again how God interrupts lives for His greater purpose:
- Moses thought his life was settled in the desert until a burning bush changed everything.
- Mary planned for marriage to Joseph, but God’s plan included carrying the Savior of the world.
- Paul set out to persecute Christians, but one encounter on the Damascus road redirected his destiny.
These interruptions weren’t convenient. They weren’t easy. But they were holy.
Why God Redirects Us
God interrupts because He sees what we cannot. Our plans might be comfortable, but His plans are transformational. Sometimes His “no” is really a bigger “yes” to something beyond our imagination.
Trusting the Detour
When God interrupts, it’s natural to feel confused, even disappointed. But instead of asking, “Why me?”, we can ask, “What now, Lord?” This shifts our focus from frustration to faith. His detours are not delays; they’re divine direction.
