Bali Adventures Day 3: We're Not in Kansas Anymore

Hello again beautiful souls,

When I last updated you, we were soaking up the sun and enjoying some much-needed relaxation by the pool. True to my word, we spent most of yesterday basking in the glorious sunshine, armed with plenty of sun cream and a trusty parasol for protection. It was exactly what we needed after the chaos of the past few days...pure bliss 😊

As evening set in, we decided to venture out of the hotel for a quick trip to the mini-mart to grab some water. Now, Jason, being the typical man, insisted on leading the way, armed with his trusty Google Maps. However, this little escapade has officially confirmed something I’ve long suspected: Jason has absolutely no sense of direction. Despite the map, we took a wrong turn and ended up wandering off course.....again!

Luckily, I have a much better internal compass (and no hesitation in taking charge when needed). I spotted where we’d gone wrong and got us back on track. On our walk, we were reminded yet again that Bali is full of surprises. When you see a monkey dressed as a cowboy.....complete with a hat and neckerchief...taking a ride on a passing scooter, you know you're 'not in Kansas anymore'! Or Wales for that matter!

Once we found the right road, we stumbled across a fabulous little massage place. After the adventures of Sunday, my poor feet were crying out for some TLC, so I opted for a reflexology foot massage to ease my aching, blistered soles. It was pure bliss!

Feeling refreshed, we went in search of somewhere to eat and discovered an absolute gem of a restaurant. We each had a traditional Balinese dish, dessert, and drinks—all for the grand total of £14. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was perfect—one of those unexpected little finds that make holidays so special.

After all that relaxation, we were both wiped out. We decided to leave the mini-mart mission for another day and take a leisurely stroll back to the hotel. This time, I took charge of directions, and we got back without any issues, settling in for the night by 10 PM.

Today, is Day 3 and we were up bright and early at 6:30 AM. After a long, leisurely breakfast by the pool with the sea as our backdrop, we decided to take another walk along the beachfront. Having learned our lesson from last time, we didn’t venture too far this time!

We stopped off at a lovely beach café for an iced coffee and spent an hour just chilling, watching the waves, and enjoying the moment. Sometimes, the simplest experiences are the best.

This time, we stuck to the same route back, no detours, no surprises, just a straightforward walk to the hotel. Now, we’re back in our room cooling down from the heat. Jason has gone on a solo mission to the mini-mart (armed with my very clear instructions this time), and I’m scrolling through TripAdvisor to book us some tours and trips.

The plan for the rest of the day is simple: more poolside relaxation. I’ve booked us a full-day trip for tomorrow, so I won’t be posting another update until the day after....but I’m sure it’ll be worth the wait.

Oh, and as I write this, Jason has just messaged me to say he’s lost again. Some things never change! 😆

Until next time, sending you sunshine, laughter, and a little chaos from beautiful Bali.

Love Jayne
