Now that you're browsing my personal eBook store, you're probably wondering, Where do I start with Kody Boye's work?
The answer is different for everyone, and may depend wholly on your taste in age classifications, what you're interested in, and whether or not you mind reading a series or prefer standalones.
Before you purchase
You'll want to first determine how you are going to read my books. Some people prefer to side-load the eBooks they download themselves. However, if you are unsure how to do that, you can always set up a Bookfunnel account on your Android, iOS, or FireOS device so that you can receive my books promptly, and read them on a platform that functions as an eReader.
Please note that, with every purchase you make, you'll receive two emails: one from Payhip, and one from Bookfunnel.
Bookfunnel is a go-to option for those who would rather jump right into the reading process without having to deal with side-loading their eBooks onto their eReader or mobile device. They also have stellar customer support if you end up having trouble with the files you receive.
During the purchasing process
You'll want to determine what you are in the mood for in terms of age classification. While I primarily write young adult books, I have also written several new adult books that feature younger characters in their late teens/early twenties. I also wrote a quartet of general adult books that feature characters of all ages.
A simple way to determine what you might be interested in may land in your individual genre tastes.
Choosing based on your individual taste
Contemporary fantasy readers may enjoy fantasy that is more rooted in literary or contemporary settings, such as my new adult novel Angel Hour, which tells the story of a young man's celestial encounter, and his recovery through grief after his father's death.
Dystopian readers may enjoy the familiar but altered landscape of my Beautiful Ones trilogy, which has been described as "Handmaid's Tale" -lite and "Cinderella in Dystopialand," and follows a girl as she is lifted from poverty due to her beauty, at the cost of her free will.
Fantasy enthusiasts may enjoy my works based on their fantastical settings, which include:
- My Plague Bloom trilogy, which tells the story of a girl who must find a holy weapon to slay a monster blocking her people from their promised land.
- My sweeping new adult epic, the Banished Legend, which tells a story of a hero's journey from (literal) birth and beyond.
- Readers of The Banished Legend may enjoy reading about The Adventures of Carmen Delarosa, the titular character of a prequel series that follows a dwarven woman before the events of my mainline new adult epic.
- If you're in the mood for a standalone, my novel What We Left Behind might intrigue you, as it tells the story of a girl who is haunted by the disappearance she and her best friends experienced in their childhoods, and the forces that are luring them into an alternative dimension.
Urban fantasy fans may find themselves drawn to my fantasy works set in the real world, which include:
- The Scarlet Jane Files, which is the start of my shared Supernatural South universe, and tells the story of a teenage girl who gets swept up in a supernatural conflict after her mother is murdered by a monster.
- It is then followed up in chronological order by the new adult Elements of Ice series, which features what I would describe as "ice vampires," and how one young gay man encounters, and falls in love, with one.
- After that, The Red Wolf Saga is the most recent story in that universe, and tells the story of what happened when an old family returns to the town of Red Wolf following the sighting of an extinct wolf species.
Horror fans will find that much of my work centers around people living through harrowing circumstances. However, my horror works can be broken down into several categories, which include:
- Body Horror such as the new adult standalone The Monsters Within, which tells the story of a young gay man who escapes a troubling home life, and falls in love with an artist who harbors a darkness in his heart.
- Creature-Feature (or) Cryptid Horror such as the young adult Dagana trilogy, which centers around a girl's immeasurable loss after her parents are slaughtered by a creature at sea.
- Haunting (or) Possession Horror, which includes the novels The Taking of Charlie Spencer and The Haunting of Alice Rommel, which tell the story of a generational curse, and the monster, that follows a family.
- Historical Horror such as the young adult Of Dust and Blood duology, which follows a small community as they journey west in 1845, and encounter a monster in the Texas wilds.
- Zombie horror such as the young adult The Southern Dead, which tells the story of a young woman who must survive day 1 of the zombie apocalypse and beyond, or the general adult Daylight Cycle, which details the stories of several survivors across the world.
Science fiction lovers will also find that I have three predominant sci-fi works, which include:
- Kingsman Online, the GameLit-lite young adult series that follows a young woman who becomes trapped in a virtual reality gaming competition.
- The Utopian Problem, a young adult utopian/dystopian trilogy that features a city on the verge of technical collapse in the shadow of a living, benevolent god.
- The When They Came series, which features five prequel stories and three mainline novels that follow several teens as they experience the alien invasion of planet Earth firsthand.
Last but not least: those interested in reading short stories may find that my Other Worlds collections might scratch a genre itch you are unsure of. You can either download the collections here, or read them on the go on my Other Worlds short fiction blog.
Take a journey to another world
No matter your tastes, my work spans a plethora of stories, themes, and eras of my life, which ultimately reflect the experiences I've gone through, and the lessons I've learned as a result of them.
As always: you can direct any questions you may have through the contact page on this blog, and if you need support for your downloads through Bookfunnel, you can find their support on their website directly.
Thank you for your time! I hope to take you on adventures to other worlds!
