Koru 🌿 New Beginning
Koru is a powerful and deeply symbolic shape in Māori culture, inspired by the unfurling frond of the native New Zealand silver fern. It represents new life, growth, strength, and peace. The circular movement of the koru conveys the idea of perpetual movement while returning to the point of origin, a symbol of continuity and the cycle of life.
For Māori, the koru is not just an aesthetic form, it embodies a spiritual connection to whānau (family), whakapapa (ancestry), and the natural world. It is often used in kōwhaiwhai patterns found in meeting houses and in ta moko (traditional tattoos), expressing personal and tribal identity.
At its heart, the koru reflects the nurturing aspects of nature, the unfolding of one’s potential, and the strength that comes from staying connected to one's roots.
