Prologue
Olivia
"Aren't you Olivia Harrington?" I turn around, staring at the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen.
My heart skips a beat at the sight of Knox Summers. I had a crush on him when I was a teenager, we went to the same school, but he's a couple of years older than me and didn't ever notice me. Until now.
"Yes," I tell him, turning my back to him again.
His fingertips brush my arm softly, sending shivers down my body.
I turn to face him again with an annoyed expression.
"Can I help you?" I ask in a harsh tone.
"I'm Knox Summers. I'm a big fan of your work."
I bite my lower lip, trying to hide my smile. I've done some modeling, but now I have my own fashion design company.
"I bet you look great with one of my dresses."
He laughs, shaking his head. "No, I'm talking about the modeling. Especially the session you did for the Women In Power Magazine."
I blush. I'm almost naked in those pictures. They wanted to show that it's possible to run a successful business and take care of you at the same time.
"I'm sure your girlfriend won't like that."
He leans closer to me, his eyes glued on mine. "I don't have a girlfriend right now, which is a good thing, as I won't leave your side until you agree to go on a date with me."
I think about it for a couple of seconds, losing myself in his eyes. Fuck, he's even more attractive than I remembered.
Slowly, I nod.
"Why make it a date? We're both already here."
He looks shocked at me and shakes his head. "I want to talk you out to dinner."
I laugh, standing next to him, I walk towards the restaurant.
"Lucky you, I'm hungry right now, and my friend stood me up, but I have a table in the restaurant."
He nods eagerly and follows me to the restaurant. The hostess takes us to our table. He pulls the chair for me, and I look at him, surprised. I don't think anyone has ever done that to me.
Blushing, I take a seat and wait for him to sit in front of me.
I'm barely aware of the server bringing our food, or anything surrounding me for that matter. Everything I can see is Knox. He's fun, smart, and easy to talk to.
He asks me about my family, my dreams, and my goals, and for the first time, I feel like he's actually listening to me, and he's interested in my opinions and thoughts.
His hand caresses mine softly across the table and stare while he traces small circles on my sensitive skin, sending shivers through my body.
"I couldn't believe it was you when I saw you," Knox tells me in a whisper. "I know this sounds silly, but I had a crush on you when we were in school."
I smile, pleased with his words, even though that doesn't sound possible. "Stop playing me," I tell him. "You never talked to me."
He shrugs, forcing a smile. "I was going to, I had a plan to ask you out, but that was around the time people started talking about your brothers hitting the crap of a guy . . . I don't remember his name, but I know he was one of Trent's best friends. Everyone was saying that the guy asked you out and your brothers sent him to the hospital."
I look down. I remember that story, but what our family told everyone wasn't the truth. Dean didn't ask me out. He gave me a drink during one of my brother's parties. I started feeling weird after that. I remember nothing about that night, and my brothers told me nothing bad happened.
Pushing those thoughts aside, I force myself into looking into his eyes and smile. "Well, my brothers aren't here now, and it's getting late. I should go."
After paying our bill, he stands to pull the chair for me again, holding out his hand to m.
I rest my hand in his, feeling the electricity running through my body, and stand. Knox keeps holding my hand while we walk out of the restaurant, intertwining his fingers with mine.
When we get outside, I see a couple of paparazzi close by and try to move away, but he just pulls me closer to him.
"Forget about them," he whispers against my hair, giving me goosebumps. "Let them talk. The best thing that could happen to me is the world thinking you're mine."
The way he speaks makes my legs tremble as he brushes his lips softly against my shoulder.
We walk to my condo, as I live just around the corner from the restaurant. Stopping in front of my building, he holds my hand between his and makes me turn to face him.
His hand rests on my cheek, as he leans forward, brushing his lips on mine.
A soft moan escapes my lips and stepping on my tiptoes, I press my lips to his, kissing him. He kisses me back passionately, his hands moving down to my lower back, and pulling me into his body.
When he breaks the kiss, we look into each other's eyes, breathing hard.
"Do you want to come inside?" I ask in a whisper.
He lets smiles, kissing me softly on the lips.
"Fuck, yes. I was afraid you would send me away."
I smile too, and he follows me inside. As soon as we get in the elevator, he presses me against the wall, kissing me passionately while his hands move down my body.
The doors open, and he moves away just enough so we can get into my place.
"Would you like something to drink?" I ask as he closes the door after him.
He holds my arm and pulls me into his chest, looking me in the eye.
"I want you."
